Also, I've launched a program to get "wimmins" the Priesthood... The open salvo of my program is to slowly insert (don't get excited!!) the use of "Lady Elders" as another, preferable name for the sister missionaries, formally called Lady Missionaries back when I was a kid.
Lady Elders is both descriptive and evocative. Also, Lady Elders have bosoms, and Elder elders don't! So right away we can see an improvement, at least from my perspective.
Also, knowing that Gladys Lot served a mission, the label Lady Elder elevates her to at least a little bit of additional height, and who can argue with that?
I never wanted to receive it.I observed my father struggle to give blessings. He never knew what to say as he did his best to be in tune with the so called spirit to know what God wanted him to say.
I was always in trouble while doing church assignments. Somehow it was supposed to guide you how to read people's minds how to set up chairs in the culture hall. But it seems like God had different ideas what he wanted as up to 4 leaders quarreled about how stupid folding chairs should be arranged for a 10 minute open exercises meeting.
After serving my first sacrament as being a Deacon, I was extremely proud and my mother beamed. Six months later, I'm sitting in a priesthood meeting in my hand-me-down suit, wearing my only tie and thinking this is really weird.
For the majority of men, it is the power to set up and take down folding chairs and sometimes tables. And it does have the sexist/xenophobe sheen dagny mentioned: “we’re better than you.”
For the upper tier mucky-mucks, they get to say how some church money is spent, but they are also trapped into defending the lies. Not a pleasant prospect, IMHO.

Erm, no, and you're old enough to know better than promote such garbage.

I'm not sure it even does that. The novelty wears off quickly. It might be exciting for teens but then they bully you into giving up your agency for two years.

We did that all the time. It's much more effective.
