"Restoration" of Priesthood.- even though 3 Nephites and John the Beloves are supposedly still around and have it.

Does Priesthood actually DO anything for the World?

Priesthood!!  You can't keep kosher without it!!

Also, I've launched a program to get "wimmins" the Priesthood...  The open salvo of my program is to slowly insert (don't get excited!!) the use of "Lady Elders" as another, preferable name for the sister missionaries, formally called Lady Missionaries back when I was a kid.

Lady Elders is both descriptive and evocative.  Also, Lady Elders have bosoms, and Elder elders don't!  So right away we can see an improvement, at least from my perspective.

Also, knowing that Gladys Lot served a mission, the label Lady Elder elevates her to at least a little bit of additional height, and who can argue with that?

And finally, Lady Elders, mostly, can cook.

Well, it helps keep women from power and under control of men. I think that might have been the point all along.

It was obvious and upsetting the first time I went to the temple that men are to obey God, and women were to obey their husband as a middleman to God.

I know they took out "obey" so it doesn't sound so bad, but it is about establishing a power pecking order for sure.

That is what the Priesthood actually does in the world, and the Catholic Church is doing it too.

But Mormon women like it that way. It's a "50 Shades of Gray" thing.

Following up on Dagny's answer (see above), it soothes the ego but little else.

Other than instil in deacons a false feels of superiority they can lord over their non Mormon friends....no.

Man, oh man!  I remember getting my driver's license AND being ordained a priest!!!

I didn't know which I liked better, parking with Paula B. or walking around with the power to absolve all sins...by immersion.

And no, I never did immerse Paula B.

I was asked if I'd baptize a Mormon neighbor's kid when I was 16....I refused the request.

Depends how old you are. Maybe if you are GA age. The priesthood is prune juice for the soul.

I never wanted to receive it.I observed my father struggle to give blessings. He never knew what to say as he did his best to be in tune with the so called spirit to know what God wanted him to say.

I was always in trouble while doing church assignments. Somehow it was supposed to guide you how to read people's minds how to set up chairs in the culture hall. But it seems like God had different ideas what he wanted as up to 4 leaders quarreled about how stupid folding chairs should be arranged for a 10 minute open exercises meeting.

They give those great pinky-power stories.

After serving my first sacrament as being a Deacon, I was extremely proud and my mother beamed. Six months later, I'm sitting in a priesthood meeting in my hand-me-down suit, wearing my only tie and thinking this is really weird.

For the majority of men, it is the power to set up and take down folding chairs and sometimes tables. And it does have the sexist/xenophobe sheen dagny mentioned: “we’re better than you.”

For the upper tier mucky-mucks, they get to say how some church money is spent, but they are also trapped into defending the lies. Not a pleasant prospect, IMHO.

All the priesthood does is make certain people feel special.

So it's like being White?

Erm, no, and you're old enough to know better than promote such garbage.

To which comment do you refer?  Mine, "so it's like being White?" or "...you're old enough to know better than (to) promote such garbage."?

Furthermore, I am offended by the suggestion that age renders individuals incapable of this or that attribute...

I'm not sure it even does that. The novelty wears off quickly. It might be exciting for teens but then they bully you into giving up your agency for two years.

porbably has some psychosomatic effect if you believe in it

A placebo effect as well. If you really think that priesthood blessing will heal you, it might.

Once I set up the folding chairs for PH meeting IN A CIRCLE-
A few understood why I did that, most didn’t, but they were surprised/amused.

Such was my reputation in Carnation Washington

We did that all the time. It's much more effective.

It gets you a fancier calling if you're a man.

Unless your name is Sharon Eubank or Sheri Dew in which cases you can rip up the rulebook.

It's all about division and hierarchy. Like a multi level marketing scheme to make everyone answerable to someone above.

Peter Priesthood can be led astray by his Peter Priesthood.
