most societies practiced a form of marriage, no matter what gods they believed in... no matter how many gods they believed in...no matter if they even believed in gods
and why?
mainly because of property rights.... to legitimise an 'heir' and to denote succession even in the bible this is the main reason... note the marked difference between 'wives' and 'concubines'... although they served the same purpose to the male
I think monoagamous (SP) relationships are the best for individuals & for society in general.
teaching ppl to learn & grow, to think of other(s) more than self, to learn to overcome/resolve problems-conflicts is by far a better example to children-grandchildren.
divorce hurts others; it's a cheap way out.
I'm NOT defending hurtful (physically or emotionally) relationships.
I am saying that more growth can come from stable relationships if not marriages.
