The church has, or has had, as symbols, the golden Moroni with trumpet and the beehive.

But what would be a more appropriate modern symbol for it?

I like a bronze dunce cap.

All that comes to mind is a drowning victim in baptismal clothes.

Yeah, I thought we decided way back that some sort of monetary symbol would be the most representative.

What's wrong with the beehive? The beehives are becoming empty relics as the bees just disappear.

Don't forget that the bee is a mindless, soulless drone to the beekeeper, who sees the animals only value in its habit of constantly staying busy in order to produce honey for the beekeeper. If that kind of exploitative relationship doesn't represent the church, I do not know what does.
