The rules, for the newbies: Since the 'Secret/Sacred' name is the same for everyone, at that temple, on that date, give the name, temple and date, unless that is more info than you want to give.
Mine was Mosiah, Seattle, May 25, 1988. The ex was eve.
I got Oliver, as in, "Never before has a boy wanted more..."
Every time I hear the name Oliver I imagine Joseph and Oliver sitting around coming up with temple names and Oliver throwing a fit until Joseph agrees to include it on the list.
"Why not Oliver? Why can't we have Oliver? Come on, let's put Oliver in there!"
Bosephus!!....well, not really...never got to the point of going to the temple after I was a deacon, doin' dead dunks (no mission, married a Catholic, major WOW rule breaker, etc.)....and I find this whole temple name business hilarious...I never knew such a thing existed until I read it on this site...my folks were TBM's and regular attenders at the Cardston, AB "Pagan Edifice"...
I forgot mine. I think it started with an M. I was amazed to find out after forgetting the first time and still a TBM, that all males receive the same name on the same day, so if you forget you can tell them your date and they will remind you at the temple. Sounds real inspired. Your key to all eternity is based on when you are available to get to the temple to take out your vows. BS.
I waited all my young life to find out God's name for me--it was one of the things I looked forward to more than anything else.
Lucy.
You mean God named me Lucy? He saw me as a Lucy? I thought Colleen was a difficult name to deal with that my "earthly" parents had named me. What a huge disappointment!!!!
My ex's is Abinidi.
Even my TBM daughter gets a kick out of the fact that my ex's sister's dog is named Lucy. We all just chuckle.
Forbiddencokedrinker, LOL, thanks for the laugh this morning. (When you start your new religion, I'd like to be named Ms. Marvel. I can identify with the quest for identity, self-liberation, and identity.)
Id have been just as disappointed as many of you to be given a name for ETERNITY that I disliked. But by that age I guess you are so used to being told who you are, that you dont 'take it back' like Private Benjamin asking, "Don't you have these in a different color?"
