Lori Fazzino will examine the deconversion process of belief to non belief and the parallels of Mormon deconversion to Evangelical Christian deconversion. Lori Fazzino holds a master's degree in sociology from the department of sociology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where she is continuing her doctoral work on atheist communities. She is a former Evangelical believer. Lori's status as a religious apostate is what sparked an interest in her current research. Lori's research has quickly received a warm welcome in the secular community, and as a result, she has been offered multiple speaking opportunities such as the 2012 Secular Student Alliance National convention this summer and the 2013 Reasonfest conference in Lawrence, Kansas.
As Lori Fazzino's presentation will include the cognitive and emotional experiences of apostasy. Those of us leaving religion altogether should feel a connection with those escaping other dogmatic religious beliefs.
This lecture will be Sunday March 4th, 2 PM at the New Lexington Hotel 850 So Bluff in St. George. The lecture is open to the public.
A special thanks to rfm's onendagus for arranging this lecture, we got friends in high places.
