Just now he's telling the story of the ten lepers who were healed. Only one returned to give thanks. And he was a Samaritan.

Instead of using this story as a timely and important lesson on avoiding prejudice, he went for the easy interpretation---that of "gratitude."

Very disappointing.

Mormons teach that Jesus and Michael created the planet and all life on it. So Jesus created leprosy. How kind of him to cure 10 poor souls from this horrible disfiguring disease that he created!

It infects the mind with the meme that they are corrupt and evil, and then it tells the believer that they have the only cure for the meme. It does everything it can to blind you from the truth. It takes over the believers hands to guilt the believer into doing work for them and turning over the fruit of the believers labor to them. It cripples the believers feet telling you salvation only comes from their god and not to follow other gods. It deadens the believers nerves to view people who do not share their beliefs as enemies and subhuman.

But his entire talk was on gratitude; so why would you expect him to comment on the story's other possible lessons?

that story, like the "Good Samaritan" as well as the "Woman at the Well" were all primarily stories against racism. It was always the hated Samaritan who was the good guy in these tales. A point that is lost on most Christians.

He has to go with that interpretation because he can use his little rythme. Cute!

My dad once used that little rythme during a tense conversation about the Morg and other unpleasant topics. It was like nails screeching on a blackboard.
