Perhaps the Boston Typewriter Orchestra can perform it. https://musescore.com/user/49891829/scores/22244236 If the work's subtleties elude you, consult the Lot's Wife Compendium and Commentary of Musical Greats.

And now, for the encore, "The Syncopated Clock:&qu

Great Britain ended slavery peacefully, after a nearly century-long campaign led by Christians like William Wilburforce who dedicated his life to the elimination of slavery. Another great luminary in that struggle was a former captain involved in the slave trade, John Newton, who, upon his conversion, wrote "Amazing Grace." Emancipation in the British Empire was accomplished in degr

I recall, from these pages quite a while back, that there were hallucinatory mushrooms in the Kirkland area. It was speculated that these were mixed with communion wine, to explain congregants having visionary experiences, such as visitations of deceased relatives. But the consensus was that documentation was lacking. An intriguing hypothesis, though.

In Vietnam there were stories about pocket Bibles bound with steel covers being given out. We grunts tended to protect important things like cigarettes in our breast pockets where they were less exposed to water. Naturally, there were stories about some steel-plated Bible catching and stopping a bullet! In Christian Science, there was our "textbook," Science & Health with Key

Tom Lehrer (still alive!) was an MIT professor (Physics, I think) and a superb songsmith, humorist, and performer. After Vatican II liberalized various liturgical practices, back in the 60s, he wrote (and here, performs) his "Vatican Rag" which shouldn't offend anybody. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvhYqeGp_Do Lest anybody think he's hostile, he also takes the Baptists to task

I am curious if people know of men who moved to a different ward in hopes of holding a higher calling, especially bishop. "Ecclesiastical totem climbers," if you will.

In your experience, folks, is there much competition in a ward for the higher callings of 1st & 2nd counselor, and bishop? If so, what might a man do, or position himself, to get what I imagine to be plum callings? Would a man move to another ward in pursuit of a higher calling? Do you think that might work? Lastly, I understand that you have to get permission to regularly attend a wa

I'll be joining some local Catholics for a conclave watch party. We'll have beer (I abstain), Buffalo wings, chips, Salsa, the works, plus a wide-screen TV. Everybody has their favorite candidates, we'll follow vote tallies, make side bets as various candidates' positions rise and fall. Games for the children. Make side bets. In between votes, we'll watch Hadrian VII and "The Shoes of the
