I watch the numbers here in BC carefully. I like to keep my "panic" response measured. I live between the two biggest health regions in the province which are the ones reporting the highest numbers of cases and the most consistent ongoing new "outbreaks" - some counts are only 2 but the health authorities jump right on those as they are defined as occurring within institutions

Wow, Decon. Long time, no see. Missed you greatly. So good to "see" you. Yeah, what everybody said about Steve. He's grazing pastures new I guess. We miss him too. Amazing experience, knowledge and insights. I sure enjoyed your posts back in the day. Hope all is exceedingly well with you and yours.

I tried but I "bear my witness" that I just can't do it, even for you EB. Sorry...

It's a big ask, EB. I can't sit through an hour of it. Do you mean you listened to it and didn't see/hear anything funny? So far I've heard a lot of grateful, wonderful, humble and testify. And a few pauses to choke back tears. So familiar. The Rasbands have 28 grandchildren, so far. Wow. And a grandchild. Her husband jokes that she doesn't look like a great-grandmother. Uh, what does a

The writer says: "Christianity is based on one singular belief: Jesus raised from the dead. Once you believe in one miracle, the pathway is paved to believe in the next." "Not all branches of faith go as far as handling snakes, but they’re all rooted in the one miracle that overrides our intellect." ---- The writer is saying that all branches of faith (I am ass

I don't know if it's a question of strength. That can get into blaming victims territory. I think it's more a question of maturity (age) and judgement (experience). I was young, naive and slow to learn the more negative ways of the world. As a teen and young adult I ran into "very nice men" who, regardless of marital status, career, religious beliefs or our relationship (work, church, p

"... what is their real legacy: their once undisputed fame and industry accomplishments (top of the Nielsens or whatever), or their total lack of (in my view) responsibility and caring and humanity. The latter, in my view too. "And some of them, people I once (in a working sense) knew pretty well, I used to really think they were good guys." Yeah, those are the types who

Encouraged missions? I doubt it, given EB's stated disbelief in Mormonism for years now. Allowed missions? This is a tricky one in part member families. Too, much depends on when a person decides to leave the Mormon Church and what the family dynamics are. I doubt it's easy for a non-believing spouse to exert total control over a member spouse. Unless they want to blow up their family and lose

Matthew 28:19-20: Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. (KJV) That's the Great Commission, as I learned it. It's a better name, action-oriented and descriptive of their stated purpose. Being an ignorant Canuck (not in the pejorative sense) I didn't know about the racism. No wonder they want to change thi

Ha LW. Or maybe, kentish, you can find it. A video montage this past week re a current US political story that includes a Churchill piece. That's what made me think of you.

kentish: I would like to give you a link but it's political so I can't post it here. If you'd like it ask Admin for my email. They can vouch that I'm not a stalker. I think you'd like it. Full of current events truth but strangely, humourous too. Made me laugh. Ironically. :)

Interesting, GNPE. I thought of another scripture indicating that formal church meetings aren't all that: Matthew 18:20 - For where two or three gather in my name, there I am with them (NIV) Seems that crowded meetings are surplus to requirements. :)

I took the nothing to worry about comment by kentish to be ironic. IOW he may be a tad concerned. As a police victim services volunteer we had one session on the range, if we wanted it. It was just to round out our training, not at all because we'd ever use it in our unarmed volunteer capacity of course. I was leery but attended as I wanted to participate fully in every experience. I flunked the part about knowing when to move on. I always seem to hang on too long, trying to get things to work out. The cliche throwing good money after bad applies, not literally, but for instance going to the temple when I already knew moism was whacked. Cut your losses is the better approach.

I believe all bats are rabid. If you get bit you have to assume you will get rabies. Therefore, you must always go get the shots preemptively. Hopefully, you won't come across any, especially in view of all the other challenges going on in your neck of the woods just now. My advice, not that you asked for it, don't cozy up to the bats!

Beth, most of us focus on me, me, me, especially, and understandably, in the tougher situations, such as your current one and others in the past, recent or otherwise. (Whew, that could be the most commas I've ever put in one sentence). Survival instinct focuses ourselves on ourselves and that's the nature of the beast. It keeps us around to fight another day. We can maybe stand 5 hrs of not

Beth! You sound well prepared. That is reassuring. I know you'll make all the right decisions. But what a big fat mess. You are sharing with us. So we are feeling your pain too, in a greatly scaled down version. Our skies here in Southern BC are hazy and the smoke-filled air was making me cough yesterday. All coming up to us from Washington. Unbelievable! It's a good lesson in climatology -
