As another contributor of MT, I admire your courage David. You tried to work with the church but were rebuffed. Best of Luck, JJ

I am another editor on MT - still active in the church for my own reasons. After seeing what has happened to two of my colleagues and friends, I will be very careful of what I say and do at church and on the Internet. It's terrible that the church seeks to blame others for telling the truth about the church when they elect to keep information from its members. So regardless of what happe

First, I am not speaking for all MT editors in this post.  Other editors also have access to this account and may edit this post as needed. Many are asking what is happening.  Over the course of the 8 years MormonThink.com has been an online presence, there have been various levels of pressure exerted by LDS leaders on active, semi-active and less active members who contribute and edit artic

Thanks all. I'm keeping my (big) head down. And Mia, since I'm 6'5”, my thighs are about 18” long. I think being half that length is probably normal, no?

I wanted to add, for the record that there are actually several active members writing at MT. For example two of the writers on our Polygamy article are very active and true-believing mormons. I am a recent active member, but I have my doubts. Some would claim that my posting here invalidates my FAIRness, but I believe that MT is balanced with individuals from all points of the mormon spectrum

Thanks, Doxi. I'll update it. I wrote the blog in a hurry after going to church. I don't really proofread my own writing well, so perhaps I can enlist a good editor from here? -dave

There are many many contributors to MT, and some have sacrificed a lot to do so. I am just one of many, and currently the attending member whose face is public.

This is how it starts: ---- Donning my gayest paisley shirt, I go to Sunday church with the Mormons. The shirt is under a dark blue sports coat with brass buttons both worn over a solid black T-shirt and faded jeans. The T-shirt/jean pairing with paisley & coat is purposely meant to appear like something Dr. House, renowned TV atheist, would wear. I’m told that I look like a younger

Thanks all. These points are very well made. We plan to use much of this in an upcoming writeup on the history of political platform support and other political actions by LDS. This information along with Mitt's commitment to the LDS church needs scrutiny by all voters.

Thanks all. Anointed one, we appreciate your willingness to share as well. Redstapler, this: "To believe these ordinances don't really matter is to negate the billions of dollars LDSinc spends on temples and tens-of-thousands of hours of time in attending temple vicarious ordinances." is an excellent point. They have put their money where their doctrine is and discounting th

Thanks all. Cheryl, the audience for this venture are curious and troubled TBMs. At MT we try very hard to be balanced and fair, but completely honest about the history, science and other facts. Going to church, as current managing editor (other editors are not returning, are resigned or completely out) is for me to both build perspective (as footdoc pointed out, I am an artistic type, b

As the new managing editor at MT, and to encourage developing MormonThink with credibility and with pertinent information & experiences, I have decided I will renew my attendance at my assigned ward in Central Florida. I don't know if this is long term or not, but I am a member of record without blemish on my membership except inactivity in recent years. Can any of you offer advice on h

On the home page, http://www.MormonThink.com we have announced new and re-introduced old content. Earlier this year there was significant pressure to remove items, but the new managing editors asked and were able to add them back. What's new - The Temple & Masonry - back by popular demand - 9/5/12 Early in 2012, some of the MormonThink editors elected to remove the Temple section

We are researching to write on the topic of political involvement by the LDS church. One of the claims heard is that around a hundred years ago, the church had to push members to vote Republican, as most members were Democrat (due to the Repb initiatives in the late 1800s against polygamy). I had a grandparent that claimed the church even assigned certain members to vote Repb so that the votes

The folks at MormonThink are looking to compile some data on things that may affect how LDS and others vote as it relates to Mormonism and Mitt Romney. Some examples: When Mitt first ran for president, I was flooded with emails from TBM relatives on how Mitt was going to fullfill the White Horse Prophecy. Some nonLDS people are concerned with the oaths Mitt took in the temple e.g. 'consecr

See http://www.mormonthink.com/christian.htm How can LDS complain about this? It's completely accurate. It starts: Millionaire and international businessman Mitt Romney could be the first clergyman elected as president of the United States in over 120 years (the only other was James A. Garfield in 1881, a part-time lay-minister whose term lasted a brief six months). While Romney was buildi
