They tag along on the shirt tails of other churches and organizations, such as The Red Cross, but then word statements and press releases to sound as if they are the ones actually heading up and funding various humanitarian outreaches. They also make sure their members wear obnoxious yellow shirts announcing their presence while working on projects headed by other groups. These are individual m

I agree - this time around, they decided to see how playing it safe works. There weren't any gaffes or mishaps - instead it was dull and plodding and should manage to keep minds asleep and question free.

I've seen that happen too but can't think of any examples off-hand. There are videos that have suddenly disappeared within hours of being discussed here.

In a recent talk, Bednar already made clear that they don't have any gay members in the church.

I did like his mixed metaphor in the same sentance saying that those who wait upon the Lord will mount up with wings as eagles immediately followed by saying that the Lord will hold their right hand.

Maybe it was questions and not doubts - my keyboard kept autocorrecting me and I may have lost the train of thought. I'll change the title if you are sure about what he said. Thanks.

When he said, "Questions are honored but opposition is not" he was referring to opposition from inside the membership. He also alluded to the recent attempt at transparency via the essays - without actually mentioning them. *Edited to contain exact quote

So, far his speech isn't available to view. There must be some editing work going on. Too bad I missed it the first time around.

I miss the days when BYU-TV broadcast Conference talks, Devotionals, discussions of the Book of Mormon and Isaiah, etc. all night long. It was the perfect cure for sleepless nights.

What a boatload of boring redundancy - as if adding boring home councils to already excessive meetings and time demands will help to revive a dying church. Now he is talking about the invasion of the evil internet in our precious homes. Blah, blah, blah.

Renlund opened his talk sharing how if someone is poor and receiving gifts or charity, that they will feel entitled and feel they should have control over the money if there is a distance between them and the giver. So he emphasized that a person should first seek help from their family and only if that doesn't help out should they then seek help from their local ward or bishop storehouse. Bu

I'm sure the locals find the Stalinist architecture heartwarming and reminiscent of better days back in the U.S.S.R.

The last paragraph in the article: "And Because we believe that Jesus Christ lives, we believe that the head of our church not a man, but that Jesus Christ is the Living Head. We believe that He leads us and loves us! Just as in before times. Our focus is on the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Billions have died. Christ was the First to conquer death. And because of that. Good point. My parish went through a split about 10 years ago after the ordination of a gay priest. There are probably a few people who disagree with the changes but stick around because of long-standing family associations. The people who split off are very conservative and are under the umbrella of an off-shoot Anglican Bishop somewhere in Africa rather than the main branch of the Anglican

I attended a Presbyterian Church (PC-USA) for about a year and really liked it but then visited an Episcopal church out of curiosity and ended up staying. The congregation is welcoming of everyone including homeless people who stop in for coffee and warmth (there is a Rescue Mission nearby). There are a number of gay people and at least one trans congregant. I find the acceptance and lack of j

Based on my observation, most of the missionary blogs seem to be under the control of their mother, but I've seen a few where a sister was the one posting. I've seen things posted which I would think the missionary had meant to to private to just their parents - such as mentioning being depressed or having recently suffered a bout of diarrhea or not having feminine products at hand. The fac

It's so inconsistant - they are more than happy to count "inactives" in their overall membership level. But when the people leave of their own volition - they say, "Who cares? We didn't want their sort around anyway." If these people are so meaningless to the organization, why aren't they being automatically removed as members after a few years of inactivity? This is what
