There are 3 Nephites that are immortal and walking the earth today. But I agree with UTtransplant, it's doubtful any of this will matter to them.

Growing up as a male teenager in TSCC, we got very mixed messages about girls. We were told that the young women were to be treated as "Princesses" and short of murder, there was nothing worse we could do than to coerce a young woman into some sort of sexual encounter. And of course the young women were told there was nothing more important than protecting their virginity. At

Since you are inactive you obviously don't hold any leadership position in your ward. It also sounds like both of you are single so there's no adultery. They would more than likely disfellowship you first. Then if you kept the sexual relationship going, you get ex'ed

Is there really anything going on that mainstream reporters would care about? Isn't it just a bunch of old men giving talks?

We shared the ward building with another ward so our meeting times would change every couple of years. I liked the morning shift, (I think it was 8 - 11) because I was always an early riser and then the whole rest of the day was open. The afternoon shift was 3 - 6 which I hated.

Our Sundays were very low key. No big dinner even. It was just church then hanging out for the afternoon. We could start watching TV in the evening but mostly Disney. My father wasn't Mormon (thank God) so it could have been a lot worse.

I believe it because I saw an image of the plates burned into my toast this morning.

Thanks for posting this. I had forgotten how these con artists would say things like that. I'm sure they loved having the sheeple think that they were actually special enough to have seen Jesus. It's interesting how all of them are careful to avoid saying that they had actually seen Jesus.

Ironically, going on a mission is what causes most guys to leave TSCC.

It would be interesting to know if any of them have speech writers. Since making speeches is 90% of their job, I would have to think they're not writing all of them themselves.

I tune to BYU TV every once in awhile just for the entertainment value. I only watch for a couple of minutes, but it's enough to remind me how grateful I am not to be a part of it anymore. Just the sound of the speakers who have that monotone drone is enough to make me smile as I change the channel.

It's a combination of focusing on inactives and also having a huge amount of time to fill every week. They have to report stats just like someone who has a sales job does. The fewer numbers they have on their report, the worse they look.

I work for a hotel/casino on the Vegas strip and the only casino that could possibly be Mormon owned would be Rampart Casino that is part of the JW Marriott Resort. However, I can tell you from experience that there are many Mormons involved in casino management in Vegas.

What you sent is the typical resignation letter. Once it's sent, you are no longer a member. You are not excommunicated because the request came from you to have your name removed. Excommunication is strictly a disciplinary action that must be done thru a church court. But the effect is the same, you are no longer a member. Personally I wouldn't care if they excommunicated me because I

There will be some stigma to it, but nothing like what a male would experience. As I remember it, males were expected to go on a mission, and females could decide if it was right for them or not. Obviously they will not be looked upon the same way a girl who completed full mission would be. But they'll be encourage to settle down and have a ton of kids and then all will be forgiven.

I was a teenager in the 70's when the food storage thing was first started. Back then they were telling everyone to have a years supply. My mother filled up the garage with wheat and countless bags of freeze dried crap. And just like you said, most of the wheat went bad and had to be thrown out. Even as a teenager I remember thinking what a ridiculous expectation it was to have a years su

He's a big star in the Mo church. That alone will keep him an active member. TSCC loves it celebrities.

I have a TBM friend that lives in another state so I don't see or talk to her often. But when I do, I make it a point to stay away from religious conversation. I know she will never accept anything that goes against TSCC doctrine.

We always had good choir directors, most of them were musically talented. But since anyone could be in the choir, the end result was mediocre. It pretty much sounded like a group of people getting together to sing hymns. (which is what it was)

I was very much like you. I would think of endless scenarios of how I could get to the airport without anyone knowing, and then hop a plane back home. When the mission home collected our passports, that became an impossible dream. The closest I ever came to actually escaping was on a layover at the Seattle airport en route to my mission in Korea (after leaving the MTC). I was an emotional b

This missionary has several pics of him mocking homeless people. Other missionaries have been in the news for desecrating sacred sites of other religions. This is the result of TSCC sending teenagers out on their own for the first time and expecting them to act like adults. It's also the result of having the expectation that every young man will serve a mission or be see as an outcast.

I've heard that interview several times and he DOES admit to having masturbated. What he's says he's never had is oral sex from his wife. He says that she doesn't want to and he doesn't want to make her do something she thinks is degrading.

Exactly. If the BOM had any legitimacy at all, Christian scholars would be all over it. Imagine discovering a text that actually has additional info about Jesus that isn't contained in the Bible. That fact that it has been completely ignored and/or written off as a joke by Christian scholars and theologians shows what they think of it.

I knew it before I left. My call was to Korea (a third world country at that time). I didn't want to go in the first place but finding out it was Korea was the nail in the coffin.

The Hinkster was smart enough not to outright lie on TV. I think this quote is from a Larry King interview. It's that same interview where he said "I don't know that we teach that" referring to men becoming Gods. He stops short of giving an absolute yes or no.
