He doesn't believe that you have to be Mormon to go to the "celestial kingdom" and he believes you don't have to be sealed to your family in order to be with them in heaven. I don't know if there is anything else he doesn't believe though. I don't talk to him much about my beliefs because he talks to me in slightly a condescending way.

It is a scary thinking of what could potentially happen. I am glad I am not alone in this, but it is true I don't have much say.

You expressed exactly how I feel! He has often said how he wants to go into psychology and become a therapist so he can help improve others lives and he talks all the time how he wants to go to Africa and participate in a project to better peoples circumstances. I want him to do all that, but he thinks a mission is going to fulfill all his desires. My family tries really hard to pretend TSCC is s

I know exactly how you feel. I went to BYU for 2 years and couldn't handle it. I was already lonely as it was, but after I stopped believing the loneliness only intensified. I had no one to talk to and no one I could really connect with. It ate me up inside and I ended up leaving. I didn't know about this website at the time and I think it would have really helped. Good luck to you and I hope you

I need to vent. Mormon mission make me so angry. I have a little brother who is very anxious to serve people. He wants to make a difference in the world and help others, which I think is great and I fully support it. Unfortunately, he can’t seem to get past the whole mission thing. He has said before that he is not going, but then he starts talking about how he wants to help others and for some

Where do you socialize? I have left the church and am not interested in keeping any ties to it, but I don't have a clue where to meet people, except for work. Where have all of you met new people?

I told both my parents the other day that I am going to turn in my resignation letter to the church first thing after we move in a couple weeks. I have talked to them before about it and it always brings up an argument with my mom (my dad doesn't care one way or the other) but she has gone through so much pain in the Mormon church herself, that in the end she says she supports me and respects my

Someone above said "they write satirical blogs making fun of the LDS church while appearing to be church leaders." But you just said he works for the Church. Does he or doesn't he? I am confused.

What is the ether? God's cloud? A magic rock in a hat? What does any of that mean and what inconvenience are you talking about?

@Chump I am currently going through the OT. I read along with Skip Heitzig. He has a sermon on every Chapter in the Bible. So I read a chapter. Then I listen to the sermon that goes along with the chapter. It works for me and helps me some clarity and helps me develop what I want to believe, but everyone is different and walks their own paths. That is the beauty of freedom and choice. What inspir

Thanks for the feedback! I meant to take that sentence out. I am not interested in contacting anyone I don't have to.

I am pretty newly out of the church too and I found what helped me was finding thing I enjoyed doing and focusing on those. It also helped me to start attending a Non-denominational church. The first week I attended a new church I immediately felt a freedom and a love from God I had never felt before. I now listen to sermons and study the bible on my own and it has opened my eyes to so much. I wo

I have my resignation letter to the church all ready to go now. I just have one more question about it. I am moving out of state with my family in 2 weeks. If I sent it to the bishop whose ward my name is currently in do you think he would process it or do you think he would tell me I need to bring this up with the bishop of the new area I will be living in? I want to get this done so bad and I d

I have wanted to resign/remove my name from the church for some time now. I only have one concern. I did 2 years of schooling at BYU and I have read in a couple places that if I were to resign from the church I would lose my accreditation from BYU. Does that mean I will not get any credit for my 2 years of schooling? Do they delete my transcripts or something? Is this even true or were the websit

Over a year ago I started asking a lot of question and discovered the Mormon church teaches a lot of false doctrines. I decided to leave the Mormon church for several reasons. Firstly, because I found I didn't believe in most of what they taught. Secondly, because I have been emotionally and spiritually abused by its members. I still believe in God and in living a good and morally clean life. I s
