Thanks Greyfort, I still have things to work through, but I think I am getting there. I appreciate the support. I think the more confidence I gain in myself the more I will be able to naturally let go.

I have learned something kind of scary about myself. I hate the Mormon church and I often look for more reasons to hate it. I admitted that a long time ago. The scary part for me is that I don't want to let go of all the hate or the pain. I don't want to forgive the church or its people. I need my pain and anger because it makes me feel justified. It makes me feel like I have power over the churc

Sadly, there is a lot of truth to what you say. It is amazing how the Mormon church has fingered its way in to every aspect of its members lives. Is there any part of a Mormon's life that their church doesn't try to have control over? Probably not...

I suppose it is common that people get married young because that is what one is supposed to do in Mormonism. I just don't understand why that is the practice. How did that get started?

The music written by composers like Bach and Handel truly are amazing and beautiful. It is beautiful things like art and music that further strengthen my beliefs in God. They can be so awe-inspiring and angelic. I am glad you felt inspired to play again. The piano is one of my favorite instruments along with cello and violin.

What are your thoughts on teenagers and young adults getting married so early in life? And why do you think Mormons encourage it so much?

There is no need to be rude. I tried to clarify myself as best I could and have thought a great deal about this topic and just because I agree with the Mormons take on sexual morality, which is also a very traditional Christian take, does not make me immature and self-righteous in my thinking. You are implying that if I agree with anything at all that Mormons teach my belief is immature and not t

I do not just keep the Mormon moral code by default. I have determined for myself what I consider to be good moral. I clarified what I meant by "good morals" in an earlier comment. I said: "I was going off of the "Mormon definition" of morals. In my experience in the Mormon church they typically use the phrase "moral cleanliness" to describe someone who doesn't

I use an NIV Study Bible and it makes it so much easier to understand the teachings of the Bible. Though I do think the Biblical language of the KJV is poetic and beautiful from an artistic point of view. Still I prefer the NIV.

Let me clarify. I was going off of the "Mormon definition" of morals. In my experience in the Mormon church they typically use the phrase "moral cleanliness" to describe someone who doesn't participate in sexual actions outside of the Mormon rules (ex. someone who doesn't have sex before marriage, who doesn't look at porn, or have affairs, etc.) So what I was originally asking

Well said fidget. I totally agree. It is not a matter of intelligence. There are intelligent people in all religions who disagree with each other religiously.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and story on the "Any believers?" thread. I really appreciated it. The message of Jesus has been a great comfort beyond the lies of Mormonism for me as well.

That is similar to how I felt and to what I experienced. Once I started asking lots of questions and coming to my own studied beliefs I discovered I believed in a greater and much kinder/merciful God and Savior. It gave me a lot of clarity and hope.

I have explored a bit, but I like where I am now. I did go to a Holi Festival of Colors a couple years ago, but I didn't like it or understand it. It was too hard to breathe and I am a bit claustrophobic so I felt very uncomfortable stuck in the middle of a crowd of people.

I would first need to define the word moral. Coming from the Mormon world they typically use the word morality to describe someone who doesn't participate in sexual actions outside of the Mormon rules (ex. someone who doesn't have sex before marriage, who doesn't look at porn, or have affairs, etc.) This is the definition I was sort of going off of in my OP. So I guess was originally asking if an

I am sorry. I didn't mean to imply that atheists are immoral. I guess I was trying to address two different topics and they got mixed up into one paragraph. I personally choose to be morally clean because it is what makes me happy not because anyone makes me or tells me to. What I was trying to ask was if there is anyone who went from Mormonism to Christianity? and also ask separately if there wa

I have two different questions: There are many people who leave the church and become atheist, which is fine, but I am just wondering if there is anyone on this board that went from Mormonism to Christianity? I myself became a Christian. I would be interested to hear anyone's story, who is willing to share, about transitioning from Mormonism to Christianity. On a different note, I have a

I don't need their support. The main reason I told them is because I didn't want them to find out from their bishop I resigned instead of from me. That would have caused a big argument. But now, I won't tell my parents when I send in my letter.

I had previously told my mom and dad I am going to resign from the Mormon church. They both said that they understand and they will support me in my decisions. Well, so much for that…The next day when my mom saw my resignation letter sitting on my desk she called me in to her room and did everything she could to convince me to not go through with it. She tried to convince me I am throwing away

I had a bishop for many years who WAS the ward/stake/ and small town gossip. He was later excommunicated.

I was thinking earlier today about Bishops. It is just another thing that I don’t understand why people put up with. Why do people go and tell their deepest feelings and secrets to a man who is completely unqualified to give them direction and guidance? They are just your average joe and have no education in therapy or counseling of any sort. Why would you take advice from them? I never once we

I don't think you understand what I meant by respect. Do I look at the Mormon church with high esteem? No, but I don't believe in mocking and ridiculing others beliefs. I wouldn't want someone to do that to me so why would I do so to others? All I am asking is if you can't say something without being crude please do not comment.

I don’t mean any disrespect to the Mormons or to what they believe to be sacred, but I am just a very curious person and I had to know. I have always been curious with what goes on in the Mormon temple. Since I have left and will never step foot inside I did some research. I googled “Mormon endowments” and a YouTube video came up. Someone had snuck a camera into an endowment session and rec
