How about the part where Brigham Sr. was wooing Ms. Lizza Fenton at the same time Brigham Jr. was wooing her. Icky! At least Briggy Jr. won out in the end.

'In summary I think lds.org pretty much has proven itself to be an anti-Mormon website on the "Book of Abraham."' Excellent thought of the day! Isn't it interesting how the doctrine changes as science disproves it? When the next edition of the PoGP is printed I'll bet they take the Preface to Book of Abraham before Chapter 1 where it says, "The writings of Abraham while he was in

Anyone know if Mormons can pay tithing with a credit/debit card? I haven't seen a tithing slip in five years.

This is all the better they could do with a 5 Billion dollar budget? One would think they would have spent a bit more on that part of it. Maybe they were thinking, "If you build it, they will come. No need for decent advertising."

The artists rendering also leaves out the other surrounding buildings besides the Nu Skin building. Does anyone know what else was on the tabernacle block before the Nu Skin headquarters was built? Was the tabernacle the only building?

Yes, it is an architectural image rendition and might seem strange, but not unusual. However, the church is far from embarrassed by MLM's especially Nu Skin. Mother Jones published this article which is mainly about Romney but because Nu Skin is a huge campaign contributor they made it into the report as well: http://motherjones.com/politics/2011/09/mitt-romney-nu-skin-mormon-church Blake Rone

http://truthmarche.wordpress.com/2010/10/25/church-finance-part-iv/ I like the effort this guy put into his research in comparison to the Jesus mall. I posted this link on the other thread currently running on RfM.

http://truthmarche.wordpress.com/2010/10/25/church-finance-part-iv/ This link was posted here on RfM a few years ago and I bookmarked it. I'm glad I did! I think someone should do a photoshoped skyline of the city against the mountains and insert three of the Burj Khalifa -Dubai, United Arab Emirates, buildings to scale into the downtown area. It would be truly astounding to see what 4.5billion

TBM's have coping mechanisms that spring into action when something difficult to understand arises. For example: When I was on my way out of the church, I asked my TBM, BIC six generations parents if they knew Jo Smith looked at a rock in a hat to translate the BoM. I thought my mom would choke on her herbal tea she was trying to swallow. Her immediate response was, "Come on now, where did y

I found this article and simply don't have time to comment on the website. Clearly this person is still a mormon, not an exmormon. There are three comments right now that support mormonism and it would be nice to even out the response, but I have to go to work. =/ http://www.rolereboot.org/culture-and-politics/details/2012-01-mormon-men-and-an-ethic-of-care

Just asked my husband, he said his mission president used this 'movie screen' line on the mishies to try to curb the '5 finger shuffle' problem among the elders. This was the 1980's.

Were you ever taught that on judgment day your life and any non-repented sins will be shown on a movie screen for all to see? I was taught this in my youth, but tonight I spoke with my TBM mom about the teaching and she said it was only my teacher saying it to better help make a point. However, I remember being taught this teaching multiple times from multiple teachers and recall explicitly t

Speaking of Romney, is it too far fetched to think that he'd be all too accepting of 'necessary war' because of his indoctrination? What about Armageddon? Prior to Jesus' return there's supposed to be that big war according to the bible. How can Jesus return without that war? Just food for thought.

In my old ward before I dumped mormonism, we had a young boy get killed in Iraq. He was positioned on a tank and his nick name was painted on the side: Stormin Mormon. It was very sad when we heard he'd died. His death brought a large amount of money in life insurance to their family, which was nice, but also reactivated the inactive father. I've always despised the teaching that 'sometimes a tes

Yeah, that was BKKKPacker speaking to the youth. He said something like the youth would live to see their children and grandchildren. That's a lot of Latter Days if you ask me. Maybe the latter days are the last 1,000 years, you know, the seventh seal or ... if you are an evolutionist its the last one million years. Who knows? Certainly not anyone, because it was all made up in the first place to

I'm so sorry for your horrible news. Somewhere on the forums is a question of 'what if god is real?' Well, if god was real and he/she operates this way then I don't want anything to do with him/her. Please know that I'm sending positive thoughts your way. Hugs!

Nope, never spoke of it. I was a good TBM. I did, however, wonder about why Eve reasoned with Satan's temptation and partook. Then she convinced Adam to partake. To me it showed Eve is the weaker of the two and is able to pressure Adam to sin. It never sat right with me, but I couldn't discuss it with anyone. My husband and I didn't discuss our temple names till a couple years inactive. Lame! tha

Here's my feminine opinion: It's the sexual tension between Mr. Darcy and Lizzie that most women love. Mr. Darcy feels she's beneath him and yet he's inexplicably attracted to her. She's a strong willed individual in an era when that is frowned upon. The 'proper' behaviors of the culture forbids skin contact even hand to hand yet these overflowing bosoms are in every man's face; I find that fu

Great job on teaching the mishies! I love how you gave them an assignment for the followup discussion. I'll remember that one the next time the mishies find me. I had a similar experience about four months ago. I posted it here: http://exmormon.org/phorum/read.php?2,259753,259833#msg-259833 Last month at my nieces wedding I saw the Stk. Pres/county judge again. He shook my hand with a stran
