Can we get an estimate of how many former Soviet citizens were outwardly atheist in accordance with dialectic materialism but silently Eastern Orthodox Christian?

182. I wonder
If it’s related to how most Romans simply converted to Christianity out of political and cultural convenience once Constantine made his favorite. Many Christians were self-motivated up to that point, but after that point I think most have not been with exceptional spikes here and there throughout Christian history.

the Conference tone they use puts me to sleep. As I glaze over, I hear him giving specific directions to momos to avoid me, which is exactly what my family did to me 8 years ago but then denied it had anything to do with anything the church told them to do.

The church telling rape victims to forgive their perps is pretty consistent throughout church history.

I have complex thought about why hate exists in the world and how the psychology of hatred works. I used to hate “anti-mormons” but any time I got close to saying who “they” were, the humanity of the people at whom I was pointing a finger always smote me. I can’t say I ever met an anti-Mormon the way I used to imagine them. No human being actually operates the way I thought anti-Mor

This is what half the country looks like through the current prism provided by partisans leaning your way, but if you go out into the world, you’ll find not as many people are talking like that and if they are it’s only because they’re as scared of your side as your side is of theirs. We’re not in as bad shape as you think we are yet. What elected dipshits do is different from how mos

I don't know why more people aren't tackling trans issues from a quasi-religious/sectarian angle. Conservatives often mock transgenderism as a religion, but -- rolling with that -- you can argue that transgender people deserve all the rights and dignity that this country affords any other religious sect. Religions recognized by the American federal government have (as everyone on this board i

I am what you would call a "concrete thinker." I have to think things all the way through and understand how a thing works from every angle if I'm going to have anything to do with this thing. I don't read people very well in the sub-textual ways people usually infer data from their interactions with other people, but I understand words very well. What my development deprived me of in t

Why? How do you rehabilitate a tbm like the one I once was in 2022 who is for the first time considering exiting Plato's Cave and stepping out in the sunlight? Are three quarters of the American people just stupid and lazy? https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/gallup-american-trust-in-media-plummets-only-congress-less-trusted-among-major-us-institutions/ar-AAMbOr0 https://news

I hate the way their indoctrinated sense of things compels them to resent themselves while also trying not to resent us for making them feel this way. I know we're like 40 years apart, but I feel that big time. I think I had delusions of preventing that from happening judging by how smart and important my folks used to make me feel by listening to my opinion and talking me up to their friends.

The book claims to be a review and summary of history filtered through warm fuzzies based on three major authors allegedly, but with voices that all sound like the translator’s voice and don’t at least do you the solid of sounding like a thousand years of lingual evolution took place. But this will be explained away because Egyptian was like Latin or something to the Nephites, a dead language

Part of it is my frustration that our government and our media are so casually flirting with WWIII and our social media are being censorious to boot. That’s not caffeind’s fault, but it’s frustrating in top of my other feelings to have my sanity questioned by anybody who also says they didn’t read the material. It’s like… am I that odious that people smell me from a mile away? But the

People don’t know how anxious I get about how awkward the sound of me, look of me, and thought of me must be to other people. For a long time I felt like affliction at best that was merely tolerated even by God. I get where Caffiend is coming from, but the way he phrased, um, some of his words was off-putting and I wasn’t sure how to respond. Im not a snowflake with thin skin. I

The long version: I’m not in any distress at the moment, or wasn’t until I got your response. If anything, I was just bored and flipping through my news feed, getting annoyed at how much I know there is that the legacy media doesn’t cover, flipping open to my RfM tab to share a thought about current events, but then remembering everybody there thinks I’m a loony too only because some

K, that was an ominous comment. Thanks? Edit: “too long, didn’t read”. Ah. You didn’t read it but informed me I need a therapist? Based on what? You didn’t read it, so based on which part? Just my eagerness to discuss some things generally which perhaps some don’t want to hear? Is this how most people come at my posts? I’m genuinely curious if that’s how I usually come across w

I can’t be the only one who has suffered rifts in their family over politics in the last five years. The reason I agitated the mods of this board to accept some political discourse here was because I was being outmanned and outgunned at the dinner table and since everybody knows I’m an atheist, they already don’t grant me the slightest amount of assumed dignity about my intentions, morality

Contention is of the devil, a darkness from below. It drags you down a level when you give into a row. Those feelings of darkness swirling, that anger for your bro Are peace and unity hurling into the abyss nobody knows. So I hide inside my thickly shell to keep it from occurring, But frustration rising, inner hell, I get hurt from just demurring. Emotion, across the spectr

Latter-day Saints can be what their name suggests, a person here and there anyway -- a saint. A holy one. A good person, basically. The whole reason we have religion, according to the Bible anyway, is to encourage people to "do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with their God," which run through a modern vernacular filter might be rendered, "do better, forgive people more often,

We've had contact off and on since community college too, but what amazes me is how much I assume I know people but I actually don't. Talk about "living beneath my privileges," as Uchdork says. My jrhigh friend shared with me that one of his sons was recently diagnosed with ASD, level 1, which traditionally was called Asperger Syndrome. That's what I have. His son is two. He expres
