Sounds like Texas except the sacrifice is outside the temple. They throw around pigskins inside the temple. Traditions change over time.

You can't. However, you can be certain that Mormonism is clueless about the nature of God.

It might help to realize that where you are now, you were meant to be. You find yourself standing in the rubble of a collapsed prison and lamenting, "Oh, look at what's happened to my beautiful prison". You'll get over it.

In other words, be our enforcers. They can't say learn first through research, then teach, because then both parents and children would leave the church. BTW, the research doesn't bode well for video games. I tell my friends ditch the video games and get Solidworks. It's loads of fun if you're the creative type and you can get a job if you're an expert.

Golden oxen. Who says God doesn't have a sense of humor? It's not enough to dance around a golden calf. They need full sized golden oxen. The church itself is their golden calf. They make their own music and dance their own dance. This is only possible by blocking out all other music.

What a joke. He'll get only love taps from Holyfield instead of a knockout punch 3 seconds after the opening bell. BTW, this is very unoriginal. He's only copying Putin's "Manly Man" PR stunts. Having a Mormon republican emulating Vladimir Putin's PR in today's political climate is nothing less then surreal.

Science says, "Give us one free miracle and we'll explain the rest". You are the miracle. You look for a miracle in a paper cup. You don't find it only because you're looking in the wrong cup. You are the cup. You don't love only because you think there is a reason not to love. There isn't. You fear only because you think there is a reason to fear. There isn't. You want reason? H

I read an interesting article that points out that you have to love yourself first. Mormons seem to put the cart before the horse, making that love conditional on performance (which curiously is never quite good enough). http://fractalenlightenment.com/34097/life/why-we-get-stuck-in-self-sabotage-how-to-overcome-it

Mormonism is basically a male fantasy. Couple that with post-war hero worship and "top of the world" Americanism, and you have the perfect Mormon era.

"it's just got a different feel to it" Kind of like a circle jerk for the mind. I hate when they do it wrong.

Another thing about narcissists is that they never change. They identify so closely with the inner world they've constructed that they can't just dynamite it and start over. Not that many people can, but at least many RfMers had the advantage of having their inner worlds disintegrate so they were forced to rebuild on a rational foundation. Sometimes I wonder if narcissists, even if they are

People in the military aren't individuals until they reach a rank of E5. The closest thing to it is high school detention.

That statement can be both true and false, just as Schrodinger's cat is both alive and dead. In the outward world, God does not exist. But in the inward world, there is nothing but God. How to reconcile the two...

Basically, TSCC is a communist organization like North Korea. Why do you think they act so patriotic and uber-american?

"Their beef is not with climate change as such but the idea of it being fueled largely by fossil fuels." These are usually the same people who oppose hemp farming, which sequesters carbon so as to mitigate fossil fuel consumption. The parts of the plant that don't get burned or processed into textiles can be used to replace concrete, which is a big carbon producer.

If Mormonism is true, it will wait for you because that's how love works. God wouldn't want you to fear. Fear is, after all, a mental reaction to uncertainty. In other words, it's not real. A true church would certainly not use your fears against you. There is no chance that Mormonism is true. Does it contain some truth? Yes, but it uses that against you for selfish ends so what good is it? Th

"I am proposing a simple starting point for a plausible explanation of human consciousness: (A) neurons possess minute levels of consciousness, and (B) 86 billion of them together produce consciousness as we experience it." That's an interesting approach. It seems that working neurons are necessary for consciousness. It doesn't explain OBE, where the consciousness leaves the body but

I can understand one person in isolation coming up with such an obviously dumb idea. But a church as big as TSCC? What does it mean? It means that the Q15 are "yes men". There's no mechanism for due diligence. Did anyone consult experts in human development or child psychology? There's no point if the prophet prays and makes a decision based on feelings, and everyone else follows the

Joe was a product of his culture. America is still to some extent the land of the hustle. He played a hell of a game, though. Fortunately, criminal narcissists of his caliber are few and far between.

Charley Sheen doesn't abuse drugs. Drugs abuse Charley Sheen. But that's his business. Joseph Smith used and abused millions of his followers, but they overlook that. If some people can do no wrong, then other people can do no right. Worship means you can never be Christlike.

"how do you affect subconsciousness?" I propose another way: through being. Being is a group of habits. Being happy, for example. In theory, people know they should be happy in the now. But then, sh!t happens. Happiness is a habit that needs to be cultivated. It takes 6 weeks to acquire a new habit, which means anyone can be happy in 6 weeks. Christ (as an archetype) is an example

Be careful what you wish for. Just because Mormonism pounds the marriage/family thing into you doesn't mean it's right for you. Marriage is a control mechanism, like everything else. Meant to control you. Once you have a family and a mortgage, you're stuck being a cog in their machine. That's by design, but it works because most people are okay with that. Some other little tidbits I've learned

Actually, hundreds of scientific studies (overview here: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3396089/) prove that prayer does heal people for real but not every time. Even if the names of people are on slips of paper, like with the temple prayer rolls, double blind studies show that it works. I really hate when the Mormons are right. But still, a church that has sold its soul for money

"Provide one and only one factual evidence..." No need for straw men. The BoM narrative itself is factually impossible. Instead, careful analysis shows that it sprung from Joe's imagination as well as bits and pieces of 19th century Americana.

"I sometimes feel as though my husband growing up LDS and having super TBM parents are really the root cause of this issue" It is. Almost everyone who grows up LDS puts up a front and then does whatever they want (within reason). It's called survival. You're stuck with the consequences.

Fatuous Jeffrey is why the church is doomed. Seeking truth by ignoring truth is imbecile. Going on about about the virtues of willful stupidity is just weird. It's a leadership problem. A creative problem solver is by definition unfit to be a GA. It's not that the church can't be redeemed. Some of their mystical ideas are aligned with science: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC339
