The Book of Mormon is not on the list http://www.butler-bowdon.com/50-spiritual-classics.html Number 3 is Jonathan Livingston Seagull. That one broke publishing records. https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=167&dat=19730301&id=zdhRAAAAIBAJ&sjid=GG8DAAAAIBAJ&pg=1883,4345503

"Of course, now there are other sites and local groups that have pitched in." Postmormon is gone. Mormon_Curtain is gone. I'd hate to see RFM go.

He removed the one year wait for a temple sealing after a civil marriage and even made it OK for a couple to have a civil marriage if parents or family members would be excluded from the temple marriage. https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/multimedia/file/Sealing-After-Civil-Marriage-Letter.pdf

Comments are suspended for the article at Deseret News. Oh well, I guess I'll just post it here. The article says "a key to modern racism and white supremacy is the stereotyping and scapegoating of entire groups as enemies to be removed or opposed." Let me see, God's wrath on an entire group and his spirit with the whites, aiding them in their removal of that enemy group. 1 Ne

"How were Europeans a disaster? America was a ginormous country, practically vacant" Here are some facts: "In 1545 disaster struck Mexico’s Aztec nation when people started coming down with high fevers, headaches and bleeding from the eyes, mouth and nose. Death generally followed in three or four days." "Within five years as many as 15 million people – an es

Might be a good idea to take what is in that book with a grain of salt. Here is a link and some quotes from a Nova interview with that might help. https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/article/archeology-hebrew-bible/ "The settlements were founded not on the ruins of destroyed Canaanite towns but rather on bedrock or on virgin soil. There was no evidence of armed conflict in most of these s

The Book of Mormon the only scripture in the world that has this concerning America's indigenous peoples. That is my point.

It isn't just Columbus, the Mormon church is stuck with the Book of Mormon. In that same chapter (1 Nephi 13) it describes god's spirit being with Europeans who nearly destroy America's indigenous peoples while god's wrath is on those being destroyed. It is a racist version of historical events, the only scripture in the world that has this.

Thank you Tevai. The story in the Book of Mormon has Lehi leaving Jerusalem with his sons and others, bringing seeds, coming to America and planting those seeds and getting an abundance of harvest. Then after Lehi dies, his son Nephi takes his followers and flees into the American wilderness to escape his own brothers, taking seeds. He plants them and again has abundance of crops. 2 N

Tevai, can you give me some info from the Jewish side on this? So when Lehi left and came to America, he took seeds from Jerusalem with him and planted them in America. Mormons try to say that the American wild "little barley" satisfies the anachronism of barley in the Book of Mormon, but what about the Omer? What about the seven species of agricultural products? Would an anc

It was a good class that day. The professor took us through how Redi had performed true science to show that flies did not arise spontaneously from rotting meat. That got added to the discussion, how can life begin with non-living matter. Like I said, the subject is as provocative now as it was then.

"I don't discard The Miller Experiment, which proves life could have developed on this or any other planet." The idea of where first life began is provocative isn't it? When you mentioned life being transported from another world it brought back fond memories of a college biology class from years ago. The professor asked us how it began and someone suggested that very thing (from ano

"And it got transported here from another ocean world that got annihilated and sent a frozen asteroid to our warm wet planet where it unwound and found the elements necessary for life, DNA. Protein, carbon. Water. Air." That doesn't really answer the question either. It just shifts it back and places it somewhere else. You would need to ask where did it come from to get on that dista

"We are the least ancient of the 16 different breeds of humans who preceded us and interbred with us, and there were many more breeds of hominids living in Africa and all over the world for millions of years before we evolved.." Don't stop there. Take it back further, where did hominids come from. https://www2.palomar.edu/anthro/earlyprimates/early_2.htm And keep taking it back.

Saw this on another forum: Trespass on church property? They'll call the cops. Shout during conference? They'll have you charged with a crime. Start a petition to urge that kids in the church be protected? They'll excommunicate you. Confess to making child porn? They won't even call the cops.

"First, under the law that you referenced, the bishop must have either done the "stalking" or "caused" it. Merely knowing that some kids are visiting a home is not enough." Nonsense. Those children didn't do it on their own, they were doing it for the church, of which the bishop is the immediate congregational pastor. "Can FBP prove that the bishop ordere
