It occurred to me since posting the above that the husband/daddy is not always an adult. I lived in Germany for most of my adolescence, but when I was 17 my dad retired and we returned to the U.S. He took a job in the 2nd largest city in Georgia, and that's where I did my senior year of high school. It was culture shock in a LOT of ways, but one in particular was that there were 3 married gir

I don’t see what the problem with African representation is. Aren’t there any delightsome members down in South Africa?

The suggestion to "start" family Easter traditions is a tacit acknowledgement that Easter is new. After all, most Christians already have Easter traditions--no need to start them.

Yep. I saw a news piece just today that said the suspect had an ID from one of the residents of the house where the students were murdered. Kind of vague, but I assume the ID of a victim.

I remember the slow Bronco chase. I was in a pub in Buckhead. I still lived in Atlanta back then.

I noticed a Utah advert like the one you describe. I think I've only seen it once (I don't watch a lot of TV), but lately I've been watching an episode or two of X-Files each evening, so I'm guessing I saw it on Hulu.

Wilcox is tone deaf on at least two counts: He made the comments during Black History Month. And if he's worried that "the whites" had to wait until 1829, then "the blacks" had to wait that long too, PLUS another century and a half. His comments seem to imply that "the blacks" didn't even matter before TSCC was founded.

All good points. Worse than becoming embroiled in another scandal, he could also fall in the estimation of those he's trying to impress.

I’m going from memory, which is dangerous, but I remember from Sunday school that there was relatively contemporary historian who mentioned Jesus (Josephus?).

Nice memories. Thanks for sharing. My mom lost her dad young too, when she was ten. Ironically, he survived Pearl Harbor, and was on the landing crew when the Hindenburg exploded, but he died on a routine training mission when his plane just vanished.

It's definitely the end of an era. When my brother married a mormon back in 1985, UTLM was one of the few real sources (perhaps the only source) for genuine info on mormonism, for Mormons and non-Mormons alike. Before the internet, bookstores and libraries were the hub of information. The Tanners really accomplished great things, IMO.

It's not the "prophet" making the profit. When he's misappropriating all that tithing money, he's just acting as a man.

150. Question:
The Pew survey breaks down how each religious group feels about other religious groups. The Mormons have the highest view of every other religious group (except atheists), and by a relatively large margin. I don't doubt that morgbots answered that way, but is it due to their fake positivity and lip service to the 11th article of faith? How can a group that views all others as "apostate
