Some people simply deserve the boredom inducing, toilet cleaning, income & time zapping world that is Mormonism.

Or how God demanded the murder of his son to appease his own sense of justice Or how God seemingly gave JS the power to promise exaltation to girl brides and their families Or how the second anointing guarantees exaltation even if a candidate lives a truly awful life thereafter Or how Adam & Eve are only mythical so there was no fall Or how that even if he did exist, the supposed

I'd definitely have anger towards 'Eric'. His own marriage might have failed but he's now knowingly involved as a party in another potential break up. And as a TBM he should know better.....doesn't the D&C claim that if you lust another woman (especially a married one) that this is akin to adultery already. The OP made a polite request to Eric. I would have had a more direct conversation,

What are the bets that even if it is legitimate, that there's no transparency or accounting for how the money is actually used......let me guess, this money is 'sacred' too.

Simple answer: 'I just can't accept the premise that using the threat of physical violence, Heavenly Father forced Joseph Smith to break the law, coerce young girls into marriage and take his friend's wives, whilst openly lying about the whole thing and keeping much of it hidden from his dear wife.' With this answer you don't even need to get into debate over whether he did/didn't have se

Matt 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. How do TBM leaders & members with excessive wealth square this?

1) Send him back to Nursery where he can perhaps learn the true order of prayer: eyes closed, arms folded and complete reverence. 2) The other Apostles must be aware of his constant fidgeting. I hope it really bugs them. 3) Those big red plush velvet armchairs..... true humble servants of Jesus

"If he was a bad guy…then there were plenty of other ways he could have found to gratify any convoluted sexual pleasures he had. He knew polygamy might cost him his life so why would he make it so public? He could have secretly used his power and influence to have sex with various women while staying under the radar" Ah bless, his eyes have not yet been opened.

While it's highly likely that Andersen's Oct 2014 GC propaganda piece was aiming to pre-empt the JS polygamy revelations and ensure that members either glossed over the essay details or still retained their JS worshipping regardless, will his words and diatribe now come back and personally bite him in the ass? Some nuggets: "We are especially saddened when someone who once revered Jos

Yes - it already has recently. I overheard a couple of 14 year old TBMs discussing this. One (who isn't currently attending seminary) stumbled across the story last week on an Internet news site and he expressed surprise to his friend. The seminary attending friend said that their teacher had flagged this recently 'so he knows all about it'. He said it was weird to hear about it but he now unders

Can't say too much or there's a risk I won't receive future mails. I've purposely left off the AAS (Area Authority Seventy - actually I prefer AAS!!) name but it's 100% genuine and I still have a copy in my inbox. I'm doubtful that it's anything much beyond a localised AAS's approach, albeit I supose there is a chance that a similar edict has been passed down from higher, centralised leadershi

Dear Presidents I hope this note finds you well and I look forward to being with you in our upcoming CCMs. I am sure you will have seen much of the media attention on polygamy this week following the publication of two essays on the subject on LDS.org last month. I know I have discussed the essays with a number of you before and in our next CCMs we will review a short presentation on the

I have a good TBM friend currently serving in a bishopric. Sadly he wasn't able to accept my invitation to attend a music event last night with a popular band that he really likes, as he already had a stake bishopric training meeting scheduled. Well I had a great time and the funny thing is that we both inadvertently met up completely by chance late that night at a local supermarket. I showed

I find it laughable that TBMs are so ready to throw God under the bus in order to protect the integrity of a womanising con-artist. You can debate points of history back and forth until the cows come home, but in my mind it boils down to a very simple point: that if you exonerate Joseph, Elohim comes out really, really badly. How can TBMs not see such a glaring own-goal?

The best GA I ever met (sadly now deceased) was a massive PF fan and once told me when I was visiting his kids at his house in the early 90's that if a fire started, he'd grab his precious Pink Floyd record collection before his scriptures. He was a cool guy and two of his teenage daughters were definitely not fully active when I knew them. I can't recall his name at the moment but if I rememb

Either JS was a horny womaniser or Elohim really was at the heart of coercing Joseph against his free agency to marry young girls, harm other marriaged couple's relationships, lie about everything and hide relationships from Emma. The fact that the essay writer(s) and TBMs would rather gladly accept the latter assertion is truly mind boggling.

Even if plural marriage was a true principle, why so many wives and why some so young? Why not just two or three unmarried wives of age? Trying to defend and excuse this nonsense will likely cost TSCC yet more of its brightest & best.

Posters have already highlighted some great questions in connection with the recent polygamy essay. A few more I've thought of: 1) How did JS choose the women? Was each a specific revelation from God? (TBMs admitting God inspired him to pick young girls/married women etc are inadvertently opening a massive can of worms). 2) Why so many? Why not stop at 2, 3 or 5 etc? Isn't 30+ somewhat exce

He has heard our prayers, and by revelation has confirmed that the long-promised day has come when every faithful, worthy man in the Church may receive the holy priesthood" 1) How do members square the above prop
