I think maybe you're drawn here because all the mormonism is around you and this help you regain some balance. That is the only thing I can think of. I just left the church last week. I live in Utah County so I get what you mean when you say it is EVERYWHERE. This is the one place it is not. So....balance is healthy. :)

I can't even pronounce the dude's NAME. It is spelled Fallaballa and he's pretty awesome. But that's it. I didn't enjoy ANYTHING else.

I just left the church last week. I was only a member for nine short months. I never really understood their idea of "living prophets". 1) How come they don't accept any other religion's "prophet". How come it's only their prophets; and 2) Why so darned MANY prophets? I could see if they said, Ok we had a prophet, J. Smith and that was it; and finally 3) I felt nothi

I read the article and while I agree with the vast majority of it, it doesn't give much direction on HOW to break through these barriers. The problem is that when I come at the missionaries or LDS folk with hard core facts, they say they don't "believe" this and that the holy spirit reveals truth to them in their hearts. However, when I come at them from the emotional standpoint,

I think it has to be an issue of boundaries. NO CHURCH TALK. None. No mention of it by them or you. I just left the church and that is my stance. No religion, no politics.

I am so glad you posted this! I have found that the church keeps changing their doctrine! I recently left and I was wondering what to do with all my mormon doctrine crap.

Honestly, (and I know this won't be a popular opinion) but that was one of the things I LOVED about the church. The reason they consider porn bad is because it's adultery of the heart. You'd never watch anyone in person having sex so why watch it on tv? Why not just act it out with a loved one? Porn does nothing for me but disgusts me. Even before I was a member it was that way, and now that

I left the church a week ago. I was a convert of only nine months. My husband is a non-member and has no interest- he's into gnosticism. The more I studied the temple, the more I began to ask questions about how to get into the celestial kingdom. I began to find out, via study, that mormons believe that if I don't get married in the temple and then sealed, that I won't be there in the celesti

LOL this is hilarious. Love it. But no, I'm not wanting any cookies or visits. And it's only been a week for me. I only want visits from my FRIENDS, and if they try to sway me back into the church they will get booted out of my home promptly.

Yeah it doesn't sound like a coincidence. I recently left the church but when I was a member if I posted someone on FB that was strange or if I missed a Sunday, etc., the missionaries were right over. They have the oddest timing..ugh.

Ok...so..as I was typing to you all, my VT messaged me again on FB and said, "That's fine, I'll come just as a friend and will respect your boundaries". She wants to come on Fri. This will be interesting- to see if she can visit WITHOUT talking about the church, because I made it clear we're not discussing it.

Oh my goodness, I can't believe this is bothering me. I just left the church last week. Being such a new convert (of only nine months) I cannot BELIEVE I acquired so much CRAP. Blue painted blocks someone painted for me that say "CTR", CTR jewelry, lesson manuals, a hymn book, a zillion BOMs, picture of myself and my children with the missionaries after our baptisms, etc. I don't wan
