I am pretty sure even thinking about these examples is an excommunicationable offense. How dare you promote fair thinking and logic in the realm of magic and belief!!!

Nieces and nephews are just hitting the teen years now. I am hoping for some teenage rebellion heading out of the cult. I am trying to make sure there is someplace for them to land. A kind, gentle, fun, but strong-willed apostate uncle that is unafraid to go head to head with anyone in the cult will hopefully be a support if they need it. I have 11 of them to hope for. Statistically I will g

I think you might want to review what P/A behavior is. My response to my family is in direct response to their passive-aggressive behavior. I will normally comment directly on the event and then either hang up, insist that they leave (if at my house), or walk out myself. I have kicked my parents and a few siblings out of my house before for negative behavior. I am a reasonable human being

You know what speaks to my heart? Honesty, truth, unconditional love, acceptance of others, and actually helping others. Sadly TSCC is on the wrong side of everyone of these with their lies, misdirections, judgemental teachings, bigotry, recism, and self-absorption.

Okay, Time for a deep breath. Lots of people have been hurt on this topic and there is some understandably strong feelings. I've dealt with this type of behavior for a long time now. My nevermo wife and I thought we knew our parents as well when we first got together. She thought her parents were going to be very hostile and I thought my parents would be welcoming. Well it was the compl

The only time non-endowed children or teenagers are allowed in to the sealing room is when they are being sealed to their parents. Younger unendowed siblings are not allowed in to the sealing ceremony. Kind of screams out cult no?

I didn't get to see either of my two married sisters' wedding. I also have around 15 cousins that I missed their weddings over the years. For my sisters I went to their receptions. For my cousins I threw the invites away. My wedding to my nevermo wife was done outside in a national park. The park rules did not allow for blocking off any area for a private party. We had complete strangers

"Friends will betray you" Only if finding out the truth and trying to get your head out of the clouds is betrayal. They have been using the "not popular" line for decades now. I heard that one when I was a teenager.

I love that you can record the conversations in your state. I hope the sound quality is good and it can be posted online. I look forward to hearing some good bits. I believe you are using your real name on this site and others correct? I'd expect them to use the "Associated with known apostates" as the reason for the ex not only the facebook post as part of the argument. I pers

Avoiding the court of love. See here's the thing. A court of love is the local SP area of responsibility. It all depends upon his personality and temperament. Some of them will just disfellowship you for a year and let you get on with your life. Others will full ex you and then make you plead to get back in to feed their ego. The church allows the local SP almost complete auton

I save little tidbits for my nevermo wife. You should have seen her outrage over the primary Tithing lessons. Priceless. I'm saving "Follow the Prophet" for a day I need a good laugh.

At the time as you might imagine, it confused the hell out of me. I always denied it and moved on. I got a lot of sad and confused looks. Strange as it may sound, as I recovered it helped me out a lot. Allowed me to put my experience into perspective and validated what I had gone through.

Apparently it is that time of year again when the JW's make an extra effort to spread litter on peoples doorsteps. A few days ago my wife and her weekly cleaner (not paying tithing is awesome) looked outside and saw JW's working the neighborhood. It was the end of the cleaners shift so they hid around the corner and waited until thy moved on so our cleaner could make a dash to her car. Wh

I feel your pain. I had 5 siblings before I left TSCC. Now I have 5 strangers. I thought that I knew them back then and we were close. It proved otherwise. I think we I just passed the 4 year anniversary since I spoke with my older sister. We were very close growing up and went into the MTC one week apart.

I have a limp from "corrected club foot". In the six months after I got back from my mission, I had 6-7 combat vets stop me and ask me where I'd served. I guess my limp combined with what I'd been through triggered it for them.

My mother is a firm believer in SWK garbage. She quoted that one to me when I started dating my wife. My wife and I violated all except for the educational background. We were in the same undergrad degree program.

Your TBM wife is dealing with a sudden shift in her perfect little world view. She is attacking trying to get you back. These are statements meant to cause you guilt and hurt you. They are not productive and you need to try to get her past it. Don't let them slide, use them as a conversation starter. Ask her "Why?". Then where-ever that leads ask her "Why" again. Eventu

She's coming along nicely. Good critical thinking skills, a few minor logical fallacies that will iron out in time and experience the way she is going. I'd say she's could take on a few Area or GA 70's and win in a match right now. You should be proud.

Love bomb them back on the joys of apostasy. Little cheap paper hearts with pithy statements: "Coffee and tea are delicious and nutritious. I hope to see you at Starbucks." Extra points if you attach a tea bag or instant coffee to it. "Alcohol in moderation helps prevents heart disease." Invite them to a wine tasting (on Sunday). "Sunday is for fishing&quo

"It does feel like different real world. No more fairy tale or simple answers" Leaving the fairytale behind at first is terrifying. Then as time passes, you look back and are amazed at all you've accomplished without it. The best part is that instead of putting all the credit onto a mythological being, you get it.

My favorite is to yawn loudly and openly when they are bearing their testimony or relating a "spiritual experience" to you. Nothing takes the wind out of their sales like an expression of complete boredom.

English county gardens don't have irrigation. The weather keeps them soggy. I spent my two year stint in Mormon hell there. As soon as I posted this I managed to get the said tacos (freshly made tortillas and carnitas) then my phone started ringing. I was busy until the end of the day. Sold a bit of peas, spring wheat, turfgrass and worked on an order of sweet corn. I actually am goi

My job in real life is seeds. I've done vegetable and field crops in research/breeding, marketing, and finally sales (today). As this season starts I thought I'd toss out a few freebies because it's a slow Monday and I'm bored. For those in the Southern Hemisphere... so sorry. 1. Choosing a hybrid versus open pollinated. This one gets a lot of discussion on gardening forums. Hybrid vi

I remember having these kinds of conversations. Unfortunately the "anti" material back then was mostly from evangelical Christians and full of easily dis-proven lies. Today it is so easy to validate information that I have a hard time understanding my TBM relatives. I guess that I was much more of a thinker even back in my TBM days. I saw the internet for the first time on my mis
