They will charter a plane if they are visiting somewhere the connections are bad. They will also fly first class on long flights but only pay for a coach ticket. They likely are using the miles collected from all of the missionaries flying. There are contracted airline benefits for large organizations that spend considerable sums in travel. For example 40,000 one way flights averaging

The correct responses are: I would but I can't support an bigoted and racist organization. I would but I don't want to follow the prophet and rape 14 year old girls. I would but my sear stone in my hat told me not too. I would but they would excommunicate me for apostasy. I would but I would rather have a root canal done. I would but they won't let me in my gym shorts and sleeve

You and your parents need space: Space for you to become an adult. Space for your parents to learn to accept you as an adult. Find yourself a non-mormon roommate/s when you came back from Alaska and live cheaply. It looks like less than $500 if you have a roommate in a two bedroom. With a bus pass and a bike, you can live off of less than $1000 per month. When I was in school

You my friend are going to work your ass off this summer. Have a good time. 8,000 to 15,000 sure does sound like a lot but it will disappear very rapidly. My wife can make that go poof into thin air in nothing flat. I hope you have your school lined up for when you get back. Trade school, college or whatever... just do something.

The problem with taxes is all the myriad of ways that they are collected. You have hidden taxes and up front taxes, property taxes, sales taxes on some items but not on others. It's all extremely confusing. Nobody here can actually calculate the percentage of our income that is taxed in the U.S. I've got nothing against taxes. I use public services and I agree that its fair that I pay for them

I got a bit of a laugh out of this one. My parents trying to hold a formal council with me. Well first they would have to know where I live. Second I'd have to return their calls. Third I'd have to give a shit what they say. None of the three are going to happen.

The proper etiquette in this situation is to politely ask who was kind enough to make the assignments. When the reply comes, inform them that if they ever are so impolite again they will need to undergo an broom-ass-ectomy.

Greece is a wonderful country to visit and spend time in. Late dinners outdoors with good wine and friendly people. The seafood is wonderful and if your get out of the city is is very beautiful. Don't be a Mormon there. It will cause you all sorts of trouble. Wine is served by default and many restaurants. Especially for lunch.

A a family with four kids are out of the cult! What a great first post. Congratulations !!!!! As for writing a letter to the bishop or not it is completely up to you. If you don't want to be bothered, write to the Bishop and confirm it. If you want to try to get others to think, you can stay silent and argue with them when they come. There is no right or wrong way. There is the easy

https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2015/04/150403095927.htm Women are less likely than men to make decisions that cause a perceived harm to others for the greater good. Hmmm.. All of my TBM family wept and wailed when I left. "Better that they would have died than fallen away from the church" is still taught.

Lazy phases, lack of motivation, etc are all signs of depression. It can be acute and caused by a significant event or it can become chronic. Chronic depression needs medical help. Acute depression sometimes needs medical help depending upon the severity. Everyone has instances of acute depression. These are completely normal! The generally last from a few days for up to a month. I

One positive thing: The RS president violation I believe leaves the hospital open for a lawsuit. I think it violates federal privacy laws (HIPAA). That RS president could have been terminated on the spot for that one. The rest of the hospital also probably got a very strongly worded memo about proper use of hospital records. This is not a minor issue under U.S. law. They are ridiculously seri

Divine laws are unchangeable and eternal, so civil laws must change to accept them... They have been trying this tactic for years. So far they keep losing the biggies. Polygamy - Repealed. Law of Consecration - Repealed. Separate but Equal - Repealed. Gay Marriage - They haven't given up yet but they are losing. You know what would be a good law to protect people from fraud? M

I prefer statements that point out the idiocy of mormonism. "So your spiritual life is based upon advice from your dentist... Okayy..." "Fifth child on the way hmmm...You know they found a cure for pregnancy many years ago." "Oh you did a session in the Temple this morning. I was wondering what the line on your forehead was." At the bar with a Mormon, &q

I guess finding some critical points that we remind ourselves of when having moments of second-guessing is more common than I thought. I picked the thing that drove me to rage and anger. The one thing that I knew about the religion that was unquestionably false. Mine was: "Christlike love is acceptance." It still gets me angry when I look at all of the judgement, condemn

"Sorry guys, but in nature it really is all about the female." "Creativity, ingenuity, and problem solving, is the male brain. It's how we are wired." I do believe these two statement are the same. Males creativity, ingenuity, and problem solving, all about impressing the female. Sexual selection at it's finest. Friggen ladies control it all.

LOL I left while they were building it. I just looked up what it looked like. What an odd ugly building. It looks like somebody created it using lego's.

It sounds like you have 18-19 year old sheltered young man seeing physical abuse for the first time. I notice it was very short letter and more clear than most. I think that it got to him and has him thinking. He doesn't know emotionally how to deal with it yet. Hopefully he can ask one very important question: "Why isn't the church more involved in caring for people like this?"

It seems like the SP is helpless to address the big issues that are facing his stake. Rampant apostasy - Parents are sucking at their job. Burned out members - Lack of commitment to the church Losing relevance - No we are not!! Head in sand. If this is the widespread mentality of the leadership, the decline of TSCC is inevitable.

A better quote would be "Try a little harder to be a little happier." Amazing what enjoying time with my wife and kids, a nice cup of coffee or a finely aged wine or scotch does for happiness. So many TBM's are so focused on the "You should be/not be doing _____" that they can never really enjoy anything at all.

I had a lovely start to Easter at 12:30am with my six year old waking up vomiting. I'd had about 2 hours of sleep before then and that is all I got. He's currently doing better but running a fever. Easter egg hunts and such are out. I am glad I talked my wife out of going to the tulip festival today and visiting my 6 month old niece earlier this week due to the weather forecast. I jus

I have always thought the Isaiah were the best ones in the BoM. It can mean anything you want and is like reading a psychedelic dream. Much more entertaining than the rest of the book.
