Test the water first. Just ask her questions about the letter. Ask questions and wait for her to answer. You don't have to tell her anything yet.

The Book of Abraham. I was on my mission visiting an LDS bookstore. I saw a book with a picture of the BOA scrolls. I had previously thought they were lost (probably forever). I turned to my companion and asked, "why don't they translate it and prove it to be true?". When he told me they had and it was nothing more than a common book of the dead I thought, " my gosh! It's not

I would love to KNOW what happens. Regardless of what is waiting for us after this life, I suppose it would not really benefit us to know. Maybe that would even be part of the appeal. It's a chance at an entirely new experience.

there is meaning to life. Look into the face of your child and you will know there is more to it than just having as good a time as you can every day. Maybe we don't know what the meaning is, maybe it's something we will discover when our life is over. In the meantime do everything you can to give that kid the best possible chance in life, that is meaningful by itself.

I think it's more complicated than that. I think some of them believe, and others pretend to believe. I met a member of the presiding bishopric on my mission. He struck me as someone who didn't really believe what he was telling us. Maybe he did and I am wrong, but I honestly think it's a mixed bag.

Planes Trains and Automobiles is a great movie... I am sorry, I could not help myself. Good point though. Nothing in this life is equal or fair. People are born with varying degrees of intelligence, and a myriad of circumstances. It all seems very random.

suppose we do reincarnate, what really happens after we die? Do we choose the parents to which we will be born? Are our circumstances in the next incarnation based upon karma as taught by several religions? Or do we take whatever life happens to be available? Why do we reincarnate at all? Is there some sort of authority that governs the process? I have wondered about this ever since I was f

I have to admit that childhood was great. Not a worry in the world. However, I have never looked back at any past age with jealousy. I think I like my modern tech too much.

Let go of your LDS judgemental attitude. That was exactly how I thought while a TBM. Release your anger, and your journey toward the dark side will be complete!

The church (I think younall know which one) does provide a deeper meaning to life. That is what attracted so many people to it when I was on my mission. Everyone, at some point in their lives, looks around and asks what the meaning of it all is. We want a deeper answer, something to give deep purpose to our lives. The church did that for a while, but it turns out they are not an authority on

Christ also called out hypocrites. They should be ashamed of themselves. I have had to deal with that very sort of fake Mormon. Supposedly a great go to church guy. He was my wife's boss at work. Then he starts sending odd messages to her. Apparently he has a thing for asians after coming back from Thailand. It progressed into him asking her to send naked pictures to him (he worded it as h

Utah... I lived there briefly. It's fine as lon as you don't have to interact with people much. I still remember getting dirty looks for buying energy drinks. I guess Monster is against the wow in Utah. I worked for a guy who claimed to be a fantastic business man, he never paid me, and later I learned he walked off with all the company assets and his partner was forced to sell his house to

I had a lot of incredible experiences on my mission. I felt I was sent there by revelation. Now I know that none of what happened reflected specifically on the church and wether it was true or not. It just proves that there are things in this world we do not fully understand. I say it often, it's too bad it turned out to be fake, what a beautiful lie they made it into...
