Question: Are visiting teachers and home teachers overly-persistent with less active members? As in knocking on their door until they get an answer or calling and leaving messages or emails?

Condorstrikes, that's sacrament meeting in a nutshell in the states. I am a nomo investigator who attends the local family ward with my neighbors and go to Institute regularly where I politely challenge the instructors and get some Mormons to actually question and ponder their beliefs. Oh, yes, I attended my first stake conference and there was a family of 7 or 8 children. The father was sitti

I watched one of Sir David The Bard's Youtube video in which he shares that there is absolutely no privacy in the church. It's all up in your grill, nosiness, life is an open book to all kind of environment. Then there's gossiping that spreads like wildfire. I know the bishop gets nosy in your personal life when he's interviewing converts for baptism and for temple recommends. Can't forget the Vi

I wasn't intending on preaching, Eric K. I understand you may also be RFM. I am spiritual, but I am not religious and there is a big difference between the two. Whenever you are ready, I would encourage you to enhance your spirituality :)

Allie, I am glad your brother chose to man up and take responsibility. Did he confess this to you or did you find out after he confessed to the BSA leaders in his ward? I am sorry that your brother touched you in the past. Have you ever sought some counseling? I am in the process of trying to get just against my primary teacher (third grade, not LDS primary so to be clear. I'm a nomo) who took in

鍾益飛, my best inference is that church leaders do this because they want to prevent members from questioning certain aspects of it so as to cause members to drift away.

You know what I find rather off? The fact that she mentioned that church members criticized TSCC for bending to the government's will regarding polygamy. So, if they claim to be the "one true church in which the Lord is well pleased" why did the church bend to the government's willpower? I heard a funny story about this in which the church supposedly "received a revelation to end p

It may not be as bad as it used to be. The number of exmos and nomos in UT outnumber Mormons. The ratio of Mormons to non-Mormons in SLC neighborhoods is 1:3.

Really? If anyone has a female friend who wants to leave the church and has an active temple recommend, can you ask them if I can borrow it before she resigns? I already have the temple garments which I wore out for Halloween and I'd like to see the cafeteria if they have one, the Celestial Room, and the baptismal font for the dead.

2/9/2017 : Institute Meeting Well, tonight was rather funny. Our Institute teacher was sharing this Bible verse "one Lord, one faith, one baptism;" and how the Bible only has "one interpretation" and that Christianity has multiple denominations because people interpret the Bible differently. At the end of class, I raised my hand and asked her: "Going back to you

lol I challenge their beliefs in way that is subtle and I don't do it often to avoid the impression that I am challenging them. I'm just glad it looked like I got some people thinking about their beliefs in Institute. And it's not necessarily that I didn't convert because aspects of the Mormon religion conflicted my beliefs, but there were aspects of the faith that were red flags to me --- th

A white woman is dating an Asian man in the singles ward in my stake. I go to church with a white woman who is married to a Chinese man and has 3 children with him. And there is a Hispanic man who is married to a white woman and also has a child with him. In college, I've seen interracial couples where the male was Asian and the girlfriend was white. In high school, I was friends with two people

No, it is not unusual. Missionaries are place withing specific areas. Think of zones like counties or districts. I went to the visitor's center at the temple near my home and they wouldn't let the sister missionaries drive out of the zone.

moremany, I believe I got some people questioning their beliefs. Me saying that didn't harbor any resentment or anger. People took it just fine, in fact :) ificouldhidetokolob, I do not blame you since you can only draw inferences from what I'm writing. I have my own reasons for believing :)

So, tonight, I went to Institute where we talked about why some people away the BoM. Without giving away that I have no intentions of converting and I knew the church was founded on false claims and twists and turns, I offered the following answers...politely: "Because Joseph Smith gave 53 prophecies and 51 failed to come to pass." "Because the BoM has no archaelogical eviden

That is because the Mormon Church sells Jesus and Heavenly Father short. I would encourage you to read the Bible one chapter at a time. The Biblical Jesus and Heavenly Father are bigger than what the LD$ church takes them for. Their love and mercy is infinite. All your good deeds are always good enough and plus, they don't have much value because Biblical Jesus and Heavenly Father are just intere

The south is affordable. Housing is cheap. In fact, you may as well buy a home. I enjoyed living in the south because of the nice southern hospitality. The people are very polite even when they're driving. And they love Jesus a whole lot. The food is good, too. Oh, and their lds temple is in Birmingham.
