Are young single missionaires allowed to listen to news on a radio?I know elderly married missionaires are allowed a tv in their apartment and far more freedom.

No (at least in the Buenos Aires north mission), They stay informed about world news events through the members and e-mails from their family and friends.

By policy, they don’t. In practice in my mission, all but the most uptight missionaries put newsstands to good use.

They don't.

At least we didn't.

And you know what? You learn that "knowing what's going on" is quite useless information.

Hmmm... A bit of an extreme opinion...

I've never understood the "rule" that you can't complain if you don't vote. This is a new take on it..... Why should "voters" decide who can complain and who cannot?

Most of the information we get is from the media. It's a bit naive to think that all of what is printed is objective.....

So we have to sift through the words and ultimately we judge what is right by "feelings".......

And they're not allowed to talk about current events. That's why they shouldn't vote.

I didn't say what you claim and you didn't address what I said.

Sometimes in chatting with missionaries I bring up current events. I haven't yet had them try to change the subject, but they often seem to be not as well informed as they would be if they were not on missions.

They probably know as much as any North Korean.

I'm sure they figure that if we have another Pearl Harbor or anything like that, their mission presidents would inform them of anything they needed to know.
