If they do not walk up to every covenant they make at these altars in this temple this day, they will be in MY power!"

How many times has this threat, repeatedly etched into one's psyche, reverberated endlessly not unlike their famed "eternity mirrors," subconsciously dictated one's decisions?

I have not yet made the halfway mark; that is, more than half of my life thus far was spent in mental servitude to the dictation of thoughts not my own.

Brainwashing, indeed.

Consciousness squirming in the discomfort of cognitive dissonance, trying to wriggle free of externally-determined thought, looking for another source of "guidance," attempting with unknown terror to allow the seeds of my own brilliance to take root...yet again choosing self-destructive actions.

We are told repeatedly, directly, and implicitly, that one cannot be trusted, that one is incapable and incompetent to THINK properly without (their) external direction.

"You have choice!" they insist...
"We know you'll make the RIGHT one."
The caveat.

Damn you for taking my mind.
Damn you for hijacking my thoughts.
Damn you for stealing my life, for insisting insistently that you hold the key to MY happiness.

I WILL laugh loudly!
My mind is light, now filled with its own brilliance!
I openly MOCK you, goddamn it, my voice uncut despite your violent harbingers!

I will not be in your power, or anyone's.

I have my own.

Embracing uncertainty and loving it.

It takes guts!

Yes. Nothing like a good threat to keep your dupes under your thumb. It's not even clever, but it works very well as most bullying does.

They’re convinced we exmos are under Satan’s power, which is why we don’t come back to church. That’s gotta be it.

I thought that was laughable the first time I heard it, and even more so now.

"If they do not walk up to every covenant they make at these altars in this temple this day, they will be in MY power!"

Since when should Satan be ENDORSING Mormonism?!

He is basically saying: "You OBEY Mormonism or I'll come after you!"

Shouldn't Satan be on the OPPOSITE side of things? If he's against Mormonism, he SHOULD be saying something like this:

Satan: "Don't listen to a word these guys are saying! I'll punish you bad if you walk up to their covenants!"

Mormonism is stupidly admitting that Satan supports the church...Say what?

Yeah, the Old Boner is definitely in Stan’s power. He now takes sips of communion wine on Sundays and still says his prayers. And, (((gasp))), he gave up his square and compass garments in favor of a simple wooden cross! To justify this, he quotes St. Augustine, “The cross is the mousetrap for the devil.” Satan is definitely at work with his Boner.

Aha, your eyes have not been opened. You must eat of the fruit of this RfM tree. It will make you wise.

The other douzy that bothered me was the covenant, don't criticize the brethren. Who goes through life without being criticized? Are their egos so fragile they cannot handle being questioned about JS, etc? Are they so easily offended for any word that is in disagreement to their twisted religion? Christ welcomed questions. Some of His best parables resulted from people's questions. What are the FP and Q12 so afraid of, their masks falling off and the whole world seeing their scam for what it is. Their temple covenants are classic mind control and the philosophies of men mingled with scriptures.

Wow! Lots of good food for thought here!
Mind struggling to break through yet more layers, new understanding.
Thank you.

Carrying across, undoing the knots...

Bless you, my child. The entire endowment is a mass of contradictions and inconsistencies. Now carry that same line of reasoning across to all the other things you were told and hijacked.

Stupid things like, President George Washington was the first president of the USofA. He was not. Though he signed the Constitution, he was not an official delegate.

Stupid things like Jesus organized a church. He did not. Church is a Greek word and the Greeks had "churches." Jews have synagogues. Jesus was an Essene who taught in synagogues. The New Testament was compiled by the Catholic Church, the books included were decided upon by three men under edict of Constantine. Everything else declared heretical by the Nicene council was burned. So what does that say about who put the passage in the NT about Jesus founding a "church?"

A very long list indeed of things we grew up on that has hijacked our understanding of the world. What a G.D. chore indeed to unlearn all that B.S.

Maybe Satan *is* Mormonism, thinly veiled.

Great Opie btw.

It reads like prose that is perfectly suited to destroying any lingering doubts someone might have that the cult doctrine exerts any influence beyond its brainwashing capacity.
