All that means is that anything that changes is, by definition, not doctrine. Even if it was presented as doctrine in the past.

For example: in 1949, George Albert Smith, in an official statement signed by all three members of the First Presidency, said that the priesthood ban on blacks was “not a matter of the declaration of a policy but of direct commandment from the Lord”

If that is indeed the case, then wouldn't it be fair to say that Mormonism is devoid of doctrine?

I still remember Sheri Dew's appearance on Phoenix radio station KTAR's religious show hosted by Pat McMahon shortly after Gordon Hinckley's death. Pat kept asking her who the next prophet would be and she kept responding that nobody knew and to wait and see. Fortunately, this interview occurred after I found this Board in 2007, and I knew, from reading it, that Ms. Dew was lying.

With that in mind, I don't have the heart to believe anything that woman says. And no one else should, either.
