“The Restoration is ongoing,” Sister Dew said. “Doctrine does not change, but policies and procedures do...”

All that means is that anything that changes is, by definition, not doctrine. Even if it was presented as doctrine in the past.

Well, isn’t that handy.

For example: in 1949, George Albert Smith, in an official statement signed by all three members of the First Presidency, said that the priesthood ban on blacks was “not a matter of the declaration of a policy but of direct commandment from the Lord”

If that is indeed the case, then wouldn't it be fair to say that Mormonism is devoid of doctrine?

Does the touchdown still count if you moved the goal posts?

I just wasted 2 minutes of my life reading that, but at least I had the satisfaction that the BS pablum is still going strong.

Oops, I completely forgot that my first point was supposed to be D&C 132: the New and *Everlasting* Covenant only everlasted less than 60 years, and it was written in something called DOCTRINE and Covenants.

So that's what she says, eh?

See, for contrast, the book by BYU professor Charles R. Harrell, "This Is My Doctrine: : The Development of Mormon Theology"

My review is at http://packham.n4m.org/doctrine.htm

An excerpt:

"Charles R. Harrell, who teaches at Brigham Young University (in the School of Technology, not the School of Religion, however), demonstrates in this book the history and development (and the many changes) in practically all of the fundamental doctrines of Mormonism. The book is arranged by doctrinal topics: the Godhead, the Holy Ghost, preexistence, atonement, resurrection, etc."

Son, why aren’t you done cleaning your room?

Mom, the restoration is ongoing.

Some of you are hung up on definitions!

If 'Doctrine' means Old White Guys are in charge, then she is correct.

All they have to do is change the meaning of a word and they get to keep their places on the stand.

Did you know that ghawd rewards those who lie for him? He does not lack for voluteers.

“When I use a word,” the old geezer said in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.”

I still remember Sheri Dew's appearance on Phoenix radio station KTAR's religious show hosted by Pat McMahon shortly after Gordon Hinckley's death. Pat kept asking her who the next prophet would be and she kept responding that nobody knew and to wait and see. Fortunately, this interview occurred after I found this Board in 2007, and I knew, from reading it, that Ms. Dew was lying.

With that in mind, I don't have the heart to believe anything that woman says. And no one else should, either.

And if you think doctrines do change it's because you are defective.
