Was there a revelation I missed about this?

Some male members of my extended family are beginning to grow beards and it has been rather surprising to me. They are mostly still active, temple attending, priesthood leader types.

please enlighten me!

Wow.

Earth-shattering "revelation" if so.

Or maybe they're rebelling and it's going to catch on. Delicious!

Rebels with a Cause.

They'll soon (if haven't already) get a memo from their SP, co-signed by their Bishop regarding this..

btw, where do these malcontents live, and,

do they continue with only white shirts and (non-bolo) ties?

just consider the Chaos this might cause, bordering on REBELLION- INSURRECTION!!!

Oh the Horrors !!

Of course, it's acceptable.

The church now realizes that they ran off an entire generation of people over stupid things. Many men in the 80s were pressured to shave or be shunned. Some resisted and continued to attend despite the never-ending pressure to be beardless. Others just stopped attending.

In many areas outside of Utah, the church is desperate to have anybody show up and serve in some capacity.

It's the same thing about men's "white" dress shirts, neckties and suit colors. The church mandated so many absurd guidelines to the point that nobody wants to feel compelled to conform.

Exactly right. When the ship is sinking, the captain stops worrying about whether the guests are wearing dinner jackets.

Come baaack. We'll let you grow a beard, like the church leaders used to do. We need your money. Well, not really but the church that dies with the most money wins.

My son-in-law has a beard and has for a while. They got married in the temple when he had a beard. It used to be quite long, but it isn't as long anymore, but it is medium length.

Many of my neighbors have beards, etc. Have for a while. It shocked me at first.

If Mormons are getting in on the beard fashion bandwagon it hopefully means the trend is on its last legs.

LOL, kentish!

Maybe when Mormons start wearing their trousers sagging way down below the waist, revealing garments, people will see that fad is dumb.

Beards never go out of fashion.

If they hadn't gone out of fashion they wouldn't be fashionable now. Generally people noted for being fashionable set their own trends. The trick is not to look like everyone else

Another trick is not to feel like them or act like them.

I'm waiting for the GAs to start saying MORMON for 'the church'...

I know lots of TBM's sporting facial hair up here now...but this ain't Utah or southern Idaho.

Next thing you know they'll allow beards at BYU.
Ooh the humanity!

It's another double standard. Long experience in Relief Society suggests that women have never been barred from wearing facial hair.

A few of the sisters should probably have been barred from wearing facial hair.

I suspect many worshipers, men as well as women, would agree!

There's nothing enlightening about anything but the odds.

Disqualifications: (1) M, (2) attendance, (3) tithing, (4) facial hair (scratch that)... [3 out of 4 ain't bad].

They have to accept these men's choices if they want them there.
