In much of the rest of the world, it'll be 311223 - which, I admit, is much more dull.

Ah, the logic of day, month year. See Brits and French are not that different.

What's wrong with French food?

It's too nice and there's too much of it. When I arrived in France at 23, I weighed 69 kilos. THis morning (40 years later), it was 95 kilos. I blame French food.

Truly we live in the latter days. Of 2023.

Ah, but the music that is playing is Messiaen rather than Strauss and hence makes waltzing extraordinarily difficult.

Recasting a 4/4 piece into 3 / 4 would be an interesting exercise. Probably ugly, but interesting.

Software geeks would prefer YYYYMMDD to mirror HHMMSS (*) for clock time. That way dates could be sorted in chronological order with no alteration of the internal format of the date needed, at least back to year 1 CE.

* - Europe got the clock time right, with a 24 hour clock (hours 0 to 23). The US generally uses a 12 hour clock with a.m. and p.m. which makes sorting clock times into chronological order more complicated than it needs to be, not to mention ambiguity if the am/pm designation is omitted, as in accidentally setting your alarm clock for 6 p.m.
