When the director dropped Alan Rickman for the fall scene, he did it without warning to get a genuine look of shock and surprise. That part was real.

Interesting choice. Probably not many people here know that one. Sakamoto san RIP.

Of course you would, my friend!

A dark, disturbing film that captures so much of the pathos of human existence. Not everyone’s cup of tea.

Seen it. It's alright. Not convinced Bowie was the best of actors to be honest.

I found a new one a few years ago. I streamed it and it was called "Beyond Christmas" but some people made a big fuss about calling it that, how can can you have anything beyond Christmas you know?

So the copy I bought is called "Beyond Tomorrow" and I watch it every year.

My favorite is "Scrooge: and/ or "A Christmas Carol" with Alastair Sim.

Scrooge. The only one I have a copy of, thank you very much.

100% agree. John McClane is better than Kris Kringle.

A Christmas Carol. Starring Alistair Sim as Scrooge. In B&W.

Damn straight! Alistair Sim forever. I caught the end of Scrooge the other night with Albert Finney! A total 'yuckfest'. IMO of course.

I agree, plan to watch on Christmas Eve.

Many years ago I saw SIM on a London street. He was quite well known in his day and as a youth I thought it a forerunner of who I would rub shoulders with in my big city life.

Alastair Sim was a wonderful actor. Although the films are wholesome British nonsense, his double role in the St. Trinians film's, as a prim headmistress and her shady brother, is fantastic acting (and very funny). He was extremely versatile.

Good actor indeed. His legacy was spoiled somewhat by unpleasant stgories that came out after his death. Actor George Cole was an "adopted" son.

"The Man Who Invented Christmas." It came out in 2017. My daughter insisted we go to see it as she loved it. I love it, too. It is an excellent movie.

I don't really watch TV and only rarely go to the cinema - most recently the excellent Asteroid City by Wes Anderson - but if pushed for a Christmas film, I'd choose the French version of Amélie Poulain, known as Amélie in the anglosphere, which is full of good sentiments presented in a fresh and thoroughly non-religious, humanistic way. Oh yes, it's also very funny.

“A Christmas Carol”, but the musical version starring Mr. Magoo. The voice cast includes Morey Amsterdam and Jack Cassidy (father of teen idols David and Shaun).

I also love that version. Watched it regularly growing up.

The Christmas Story is my favorite Christmas movie. I still watch it every year. The scene when the father opens the "leg lamp" is priceless.

But My Favorite scene is the swearing scene. Poor Ralphie!

My older brother got a BB gun when he was fairly young. Then my two younger brothers--born 12 and 15 years after the oldest brother also got BB guns when they were young, but they had to shoot them while at the farm.

School seemed to be a lot like that growing up, too. The cussing also reminded me of being a kid, but we weren't punished for cussing as my dad cussed a lot more than we did. We all copied our dad when we were little kids. Changing the tire another one.

I so hated going to see Santa and we didn't do it very often. All the supposed fun things to do with Christmas were tiring like the waiting to see Santa. I don't know if I ever took my kids. I do have pictures of them with Santa though.

My older brother always tried to sneak out to sleep under the Christmas tree and he took my older sister and I along. We always got caught.

Here you go. DIE HARD is "Officially" a Christmas Movie. Too bad it didn't take place on Temple Square and the Church Office Building.

The original "A Child's Christmas in Wales". Not the new version also so named, but having nothing to do with the epic prose of Dylan Thomas.

Die Hard Christmas Song

Have a Nakatomi Christmas
It’s about suspense and fear
It’s no lie, McClane won’t die
Karl won’t see next year

Watching Gruber make his exit
Has to be my fav’rite part
Sgt Powell will stuff his jowls
With Twinkies, his poor heart

Goodbye Tony, Have a Nakatomi Christmas this year

I just spent the evening watching a heavily edited version of Die Hard! It was awesome seeing McClane.
