It looks like he must have had a little too much sacramental wine in preparation for his Ward's Xmas program this year.

I learned a long time ago public image is mostly show business; especially, in the LDS Church and in Washington DC.

He blew 0.11 where the limit is 0.08. That's probably about 6 standard drinks in the first hour with one every hour after that to maintain that BAL.

That's not eating a few rum balls at an office afternoon tea, or swallowing some mouthwash.

He had a cold, it was Nyquil.

A whole lot of Nyquil.

Lots and lots of Nyquil.

*Nyquil is a cold remedy that's about 10% alcohol. By US standards that would be 20 proof. Unless my math is wrong, which it usually is.

It does not take that much to reach .11. I've had clients over .26 often. The old standard was .10. It appears he is taking the blame and will have be explain why he violated the WoW. Maybe he is now exmo.

You're young, which is a good thing.

I remember when it was .12. He would have gotten off with running a red light.

.26? If they're still able to sit up, he's a "practiced" drinker, sometimes known as an alcoholic.

Larry Craig in 2007, and now Crapo.

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/28/washington/28craig.html?_r=0

I wonder if Crapo will try to weasle out of it like Craig tried to do. I loved Craig's "I am not gay, I have never been gay" speech.

This might seem pessimistic but I've sadly learnt over the years that even the most seemingly ardent and upright TBMs (and similarly figures in the community) can put on a great vaneer but it doesn't mean they are any way near perfect....and many times they can be some of the most un-Christian people in their private life.

In the church there is an inbuilt sense of trusting PH holders, particularly those in higher offices. Whilst I like to give people the benefit of doubt, I'm rarely taken in by those who can talk a great talk.

I've heard members sing the praises of leaders over the years for their wonderful talks or countless hours they serve, yet I know that there are many skeletons hiding in closets.

Two quick examples - I once caught a SP parked up in a very isolated place with another sister in the ward, under the pretence that they were exchanging Christmas gifts. Let's just say that he couldn't have looked more guilty and awkward. His face literally gave the game away. The area we went for a walk that day was miles away from their and my respective homes and there's no way they would have ever anticipated bumping into any other member.

Also when I was in young men's, one of the Bishopric members was a real ardent TBM, always having a go at us YM and constantly giving us a hard time about standards. Well one time during church I caught him smoking behind the building. The look of horror on his face was priceless.

But hypocrites are unforgivable. They make other people feel like crap, when they cannot live up to the standards they preach.

The very first thing he ought to do is change his last name...

Growing up in Calif., our ward had our very own Congressman named Ken Dyal. When he returned after serving his term, he told my Dad, "Washington DC is pure evil" ... This was in the early 60s

Let's review this guy's experience.

He grew up learning to lie about masturbating so he could serve a mission.

Where he learned to lie to investigators so he could pump the MP's numbers.

And lie to the MP so he wouldn't be sent home early.

And lie to his family about his mission experience and the emotional abuse and physical neglect he went through.

They are not transparent with him about money and he is not transparent right back.

These are "the best two years of his life"

Then Michael gets home and he is loaded with compliments. He is the apple of his mother's eyes, "We're so proud" and he immediately marries, as he is told, so he can keep his fingers out of the cookie jar.

God does not bless him with happiness for his faithfulness. He finds out he has to work it out with another flawed human being just like everyone else, except he doesn't really love her. He finds that sharing Mormonism is not really something in common. It's more like being in the military. You have that in common with the guy next to you in the foxhole, but it's really not who you ARE. It's not an interest, it's just your environment right now. There is a real life waiting for you after your enlistment is over. That's where you can express yourself.

Only Michael knows there is no "after enlistment" for him. He can't turn down a calling and very quickly he has a baby on the way and three callings. As soon as he's released, they call him for a higher one before he has a chance to experience any home time with his wife, whom he doesn't know all that well. He can't answer the question, "Who is she as a person without the gospel?" He can't answer the question, "What's on her bucket list that has nothing to do with Mormonism?"

Now he's a bishop, now he's a stake president. He is the least free person in the world. His kids are popping out one after another and he has never spent any time alone with any of them. he hardly knows them and they are managed as a unit instead of individuals. His wife derives her main support from the ward sisters, who consider her lucky and blessed to have a devoted servant of the Lord like Mikey.

But he knows he has a problem. When he's out of town making uplifting speeches, he likes to hole up in the Marriot and watch some porn, smoke a few, down a few. He figures he needs to let off steam and have some part of his life that's just his own. No part of life is his own and deep down, he is profoundly depressed. He has done what the Lord asked, so where's the peace that passeth understanding? Where's the goddamned happiness?

He begins to secretly hate the GAs and their sanctimonious blessings they give him before they dump a shitload of work on his shoulders, then ask him to give back report after report as they micromanage his territory. Now they are asking him to hold Courts of Love condemning people who have been caught doing what he's doing.

He can't stand it and leaves the motel at the last possible moment, speeding so he won't be late to meet with Boyd K. Packer, that contemptible bastard and WHAT'S THAT? A COP?

I feel sorry for Michael Crapo. He is one of us before we realized IT WAS THEM AND NOT US. Let's hope this experience helps him to detach from the blood-sucking cult.

I wish him well

"I made a mistake," he said. Wanting us to believe it was a first and only time, I guess. My TBM brother in law said the same thing to my TBM sister in law when he got arrested the second time for indecent exposure at a park. She believes dear hubby has only done it twice. Hilarious.

He was either trying for, or committing, gay sex, or flashing women or kids. If it was the anonymous gay sex, your sister needs to be aware it's probably happened before and to be careful as far as STDs go.

If it involved kids, get his kids interviewed and safe.

http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/12/23/16114019-idaho-sen-mike-crapo-arrested-for-dui?lite
The NBC news article states he is a Mormon at the end of the article. I can already hear my mom saying, They don't ever tell you the religion unless its Mormon, thats because the devil has to use every little opportunity to nitpick at the church, make the world think bad of Mormons. The world is intrigued with Mormons.

The sad thing is, I remember believing this wholeheartedly. Now I know the world just thinks Mormons are nuts.

I honestly think the reason the media reports they are Mormon is because Mormons make such a big deal about how righteous they are, how high their standards are, how much light they bring to the world and how everyone should follow them. All because the are Mormon. So I think people like outing them for their sins, and exposing that they are normal and not as wonderful as they pretend they are. Everyone, especially the media, likes taking the hot air out of people who deserve it.

Who was the inspired General Authority who issued the call for Crapo to lead that new Stake in 1987? It was Richard G. Scott who at the time was a member of the Presidency of the First Quorum of the Seventy. Scott himself was the son-in-law of a former US Senator and a little over a year later that ultra-inspired General Authority became an Apostle (ie one of the Seers with that great skill at translating ancient languages). Oh yeah he's also a Revelator and Prophet too ..... plus maybe even on the board of directors of the den of costly apparel and high-priced trinquets called City Creek ;)

I have zero problem with him being Mormon and having a drink. I hope he enjoys many drinks in the future. I also hope that his being Mormon doesn't effect his guilt complex to much. That said.

Driving? What kind of idiot Senator drives? Can't he just call the senate office and have them send a car? I remember reading somewhere that after the numerous episodes of drinking and driving that an office was set up for Congress to call and get a car to pick them up.

this was a locally-approved 'test of faith' for the cop, who was a rising star in the DC ward where Crapo resides.

penishood leaders CONVINCED Crapo to drive DUI when the LDS cop was On Duty... to see how he would handle a Royalty DUI conflict.

He FAILED, no doubt.
