To her, my resigning will mean "divorcing" my celestial marriage. She may respond by divorcing me in our REAL marriage! It's certainly not worth pursuing it. Though I not comfortable with what amounts to her emotional ultimatum. If I want to remain married, I have to be an on record member of a church I don't believe in and don't participate in. I would never marry her on those term

Has anybody else experienced this from their TBM spouse. After coming to terms with my non-belief, she can just about tolerate it. But the act of resignation means that I am "divorcing" her, because I will be wilfully dissolving my temple marriage. I didn't even tell her I would like to - she volunteered that little gem. I can see her point. But it doesn't seem fair. Any thoughts?

Masturbation leads to mutual masturbation, which in turn leads to total homosexuality. Seriously though, porn is more often than not damaging in relationships. Most men who are or have been married know this is true. At best it causes insecurities in one or both partners; at worst it can cause sexual dysfunction to the point where normal sex is impossible. And any guy who thinks it's OK, a

I believe this is the most likely explanation, along with the temperance movement that was popular at the time. The most significant aspect of the story is that nobody seemed to care about the WoW until the 20th century, yet it was still used as an excuse for excommunicating people Smith didn't like.

In 1996 President Hinkley had the following conversation with Mike Wallace on 60 minutes: Wallace: Mormons adhere to a very strict health code. No alcohol, no tobacco, no coffee, no tea, not even caffeinated soft drinks... Hinkley: Right. Wallace: ...eat meat sparingly, exercise... Hinkley: Right. Wallace: ...get plenty of sleep. Hinkley: Right. It's wonderful! In a 1997 interview, David

I would like to correct my post. I have now found a friend who has today tasted her first cola in 35 years! And didn't like it.

Two TBMs on my FB have linked to it. So it is doing the rounds amongst FB users at least.

From a TBM: "the recent statement is just clarifying what has always been the church's position and contains nothing new or news worthy... Those who drink coke have always been able to go to the temple"

Exactly. The biggest secret in Mormonism (at least amongst the members and prospective members) is that it is BULLSHIT. The rest of the world know this of course, which is why they are not Mormons.

I had Red Bull smuggled in for me at Preston MTC. I gave it away though to gain popularity.

I asked some of my TBM friends, and most claimed the "new revelation" (actually a press release confirming existing church position, at least after they edited it) was just proof we have a modern Prophet. Most TBMs in the UK don't have a problem with coke. I have yet to find anybody who claims they will now start drinking it. There are a small minority of hardcore fundamentalists who

Whiskey is a nice drink in it's own right, as is Coke, but both are worse for being mixed. Coffee is a nice drink in it's own right, and a shot of whiskey can enhance the coffee, as opposed to coffee enhancing whiskey. You can't improve perfection.

The most beautiful thing about atheism, is there is no such thing as a victimless sin.

I laughed at this when I got disfellowshipped too. Unfortunately, I was daft enough to spend the 12 months that followed being the most Mormoney I have ever been. Even quit masturbating for a few weeks before my final refellowshipping interview.

I heard it was "tannins" too, and that coffee has over 100 known carcinogens. I have yet to see any verifiable claim for this. Ironically, TBMs are always flooding their FB with evidence of how unhealthy COLA drinks are!!!

He won't be disciplined by the church. He has too much power, they don't want to piss him off.

"Testing ground" as in - gateway to harder drugs, see if you like the low risk soft ones first. Or as in "this is a test, to see if you're ready to be a good Mormon or not all by yourself?"

The purpose of the church is to "perfect the saints". It is not for perfect people, but sinning believers. As long as you believe, then the church is functioning correctly by working with you to stop sinning. If you don't believe, however, then you don't belong to that church.

The rest of it doesn't really matter. It's made up mumbo jumbo dogma. But money is real! If you plan on stopping at some point in the future, just save yourself some cash and quit paying now!

Can they be broken down further? "Porn" is so generic to be meaningless. Were they looking for "Garment porn"? "Missionary porn"? "W&D" (White and Delightsome)?
