:) Ok, more info, but only because you asked.. I wrote that because you seemed a little down and out about the holidays and I wanted to help you see a different side to the situation that you might have been unaware of. I was thinking that there was probably a lot of love for you that you didn't know about. I was telling the truth about the family because I was pretty close to all of them e

This thread reminded me of my childhood in orem and your name, oremgirl, reminded me of a family I knew that lived close by. Their dad was a big wig for the church. One of the older sisters broke away and took off to California....She was the really cool one. The other sisters stayed Molly Mo but the brother was greatly affected by this sister's example...actually I think the dad was too and

This reminded me of the fast offerings as an act of service and as the works and fruits of the church. When I was a kid the blue fast offering envelopes we had to go around to the houses and pick up the money with had a picture of a hand on them and the scripture if ye have done it unto the least of these my brethren ye have done it into me .... HA HA!!!! So true, it was really being done unt

I agree with some of the other posters who have said that this board is one of the best, most interesting places on the entire internet. Ive visited it for many years and it had made me a better person by helping unravel the Mormon mess in my mind. I've had fun reading and posting under this name and some others. I appreciate the fact that you have asked so little from anyone over the years.

It takes time. For me it took a few years to come to terms with it. It's strange to go from a pre packaged life with all the answers and everything laid out for you to an abrupt change of life that feels like you're out in the wild blue yonder wondering where you are now and what to do. After a while it gets better but it doesn't just happen. You'll have ups and downs and things could get wor

Hey Pagag...I did time in orem high seminary in the 80's too...what a joke :D That reminded me of a funny thing that happened to me as an exmormon, kinda oppisite of being called Korihor, I was at a wedding reception with my ultra TBM parents and "Brother" Hall came up to me and told me I was one of his best students ever LOL ( it was probably a lie) but it sure made things awkwar

After finding out Mormonism was a lie it was pretty devastating and I had a few years where I didn't believe in anything at all and assumed that there was no God. That was fine but I was still confused about JC and what Christians believed. I ended up checking out a Pentecostal bible believing church and found that it was very enlightening to hear a completely different take on JC and the bible,

I agree with rationalist01... gentile was used hand in hand with Mormons referring to themselves as israel. It's also connected with patriarchal blessings where Mormons are told that they are from the tribes of Israel. Lamanites were also supposedly Israel for a while too...LOL It's one of the Mormon us vs them elitisms that seems to be fading away because of DNA

An interesting thing I have found about Mormonism is that each Mormon could have very different understandings and experiences in the religion. Just because you hadn't heard a certain term being used doesn't mean you weren't a Mormon and that your experience in the church wasn't important. For example, my mom was a lifetime Mormon but didn't know about polygamy in heaven. It shocked me bec

Thank you for sharing your story bishopathiest. I agree with the other posters that your story will probably be helpful to a lot of other people in the future because your interactions with the "special witness" and other people demystify their techniques which can be very scary and manipulative when we are facing them unprepared. The Mormon church is such an emotional church an

We've been having people stop by late at night...it's annoying since we have kids in elementary school and they are knocking on our door either right when we are putting them to bed our even after they're asleep. The other day we had them three days in a row. First the sister missionaries came at about 8:45 pm. The next night we had the regular missionaries, then the third night we had the el

I love attending churches and not having to "know" its true, not having to pay tithing at all and just giving "offerings" if we want to. For me its so nice to sit there and hear how very different regular Christian churches believe from the Mormon church. Its very deprogramming and therapeutic plus no one forces it on you like the Mormons do.

You probably need more practice, less guilt and Minerals. Keep working on it, something good is sure to come from the efforts.

I agree with the quote. I have had the same thoughts as Kay whether everything else she says is correct or not I don't know since I haven't read it.

The document in the briefcase is classic :) I guess Mormons are supposed to take it on faith because if he showed them they wouldn't need Faith? And if they ask about it then they are asking for a sign? The document in the briefcase proves the corruption of the Mormon leaders. Why not print it and hand it out in the beginning of the meeting?

+1 good point They are the kind of bully that cries if anyone stands up to them. Now the whole school is finding out that the bully is just a big wimp that can't even take a punch.

The anti Mormon lies are all the Boogeyman stuff that the Mormon church made up to keep their members from looking at unapproved materials. I think Anti Mormon lies is a cult tactic and one of the proofs that it is a cult. What other religion is so hung up on claiming they are being persecuted by Anti-them?

I think the Mormon church is quickly going to be in a position that they must change or at least come up with ways to answer internet questions. Maybe they'll come up with a good statement that will silence the critic s but right now they are sitting ducks on the internet. In the past it wasn't a big deal but now they are putting the missionaries on the front line and that's going to make some of

I understand and agree completely. I've been out a long time and I sometimes have the passing emotion that I'm sad that the Mormon church isn't true. I was just mentioning some things I think of when that comes up. The security blanket of the Church was one of my favorite parts.
