Wow I just watched the first few minutes. You'd think after 30+ years at the job they'd get the TelePrompTer down. I also always wonder about these letters from members they are always fond of quoting. Isn't it the policy of the church that letters to higher ups be returned unopened to ward members' bishops? it sounds like ass kissing elite members get the apostles ear but not to common rabbl

Well this is a pretty folically challenged FP but next to Oaks and Eyring, Nelson is actually out front when it comes to hair. Maybe Uchtdorf's gorgeous mane did too much to divert attention so he's out.

I was overthinking this a bit and since this "apostolic interregnum" had lasted MUCH longer than other recent ones, I thought maybe the 93 year old Nelson would make the bold decision to skip over some of the old crusties and select a sucessor from the twelve much younger, and break the increasing fossilization happening in the church. Nope. Not even a sliver of inspiration in the n

How long until Mormon scientists isolate the priesthood gene to a specific mutation in the Neanderthal genome?

I'd read the little factory talk but never seen it in video. It is even creepier hearing it than reading it. I can't understand how the room didn't break out into uncomfortable giggles when Boyd said "Life Giving Substance"

An entire year on eternal families?? Since the doctrine is only mentioned in D&C 132 and nowhere else, and I can't imagine they will give this a close reading, and since having your own planet is no longer scriptural and speculation on god's wives and celestial sex is frowed upon, I guess the entire course will be non-scriptural feel good stories mixed in with homo- and slut-shaming.

Bednar is probably weeping for joy every time he sees another one off his colleagues bite the dust as that puts him one step closer to the prize. The current system favors him since he is relatively young and any change to the established order of gerontocracy would only hurt his chances. Once he's in charge there is nothing stopping his pickle talk from being canonized scripture.

Monson's future conference appearances will be in the form of a large, floating, disembodied green head delivering the word of the Lord. My prediction.

The glass screen on the left is the Urim. On the right is Thummin. Through them the Holy Ghost beams fragments of plagiarized texts, letters from destitute widows, travel recommendations and an occasional bit of porn.

Apparently Renlund's father-in-law was a general authority in the early 1990s. But I assume he was called because of his "immigrant background" you know. Diversity.

Well, I know this isn't the point of your post, but the North Star DOES change https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pole_star at the time of the wanderings of Moses in the desert there was no Bright North Star. Polaris assumed the role only in late antiquity. Fodder for apologists....hmm

Jeffrey Holland, Warren Jeffs? According to http://www.ourbabynamer.com/Jeffrey-name-popularity.html Jeffrey was practically unknown as a name until 1940, when it skyrocketed in popularity until reaching a peak in 1960. It stayed strong through the early 1970s, but then began a precipitous decline and now there are only around 1,000 new Jeffs a year

Sounds like a nice guy, who was unfortunately the victim of random crime. I hope he recovers quickly and fully. I'm sure the higher ups are probably more concerned that this article calls the church "The Church of Latter Day Saints" than the fact that this guy got attacked. The standard church PR response to the attack "Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family&qu

These people look like exmormon apostates. Relaxed and happy and a far cry from the dazed crazy look of typical cultists. Amazing what a bit of distance from a cult can do.

I don't really see anything sinister in this. All organizations need to know what their numbers are so they can make necessary adjustments. What is sinister is SLC knows these numbers and doesn't publish them.

Since Cecil the lion is slowly fading from the headlines, I thought it might be a good time to bring up once again the direct Mormon connection to big game trophy hunting. God fully and wholeheartedly endorses this practice, apparently, and even skims a little extra cash off the practice to pay form the kingdom, i.e. City Creek Mall. A rather old article, but still worthwhile if you got your

Get out now! If you got into BYU surely you can get in somewhere else that is equally affordable. What you don't realize now is that BYU will follow you around on your resume for the rest of your life. It's only an assets in certain circles, (the ones you are trying to escape) and can be a liability in others. Do yourself a favor and find a real school where you can live your life in the open!

Haha love it! Picture is worth a thousand words. In the article they mentioned Mormons never completely remove the garment. I know some old grandpas were following this advice at least a few years back (even with bathing/sex) When did this rule change?
