Well, they want proof that I was my father's dependent as a minor. And they said a baptism record, or church record would do, because it states your legal guardians from that time. I suppose there are other kinds of records they might take, but I've moved around so much, and lost so much in the process, I just don't have any other records from when I was a minor. Church record would be th

I agree, its not good to make people feel like they MUST have kids. A lot of Mormon mothers I know really cannot stand their kids, and wish they didn't have to spend their days babysitting them. They rejoice when the kids go to school. I understand that being a mom can be stressful. But you should not be wishing that your kids had never been born... Its sad.

Hey all, I need a copy of my church records, mostly for the baptism records, for VA education benefits purposes. But I recently moved to a very rural place. Not much in the way of wards here. Plus, I don't wanna start the "love bombs" by advertising my presence to local mormons, if there are any, lol. Is there another way I can get a copy of the records? Like through corresp

Well, yeah, and then there are "prophecies within prophecies". I think somewhere in the bible it says that when everyone is spouting out "end of the world" claims left and right.... That's when the end is near. Well, that's either supporting paranoia, or playing it safe so people can say "see! The prophecy is true!", or humans just instinctively know when our

Does anyone else find the Doomsday mindset that some religions use to be extremely unproductive in life? I mean besides the obvious. I mean its ok if you can find a church or religious group that just has a very positive atmosphere, and makes you feel happy, lifts your spirits, etc. But its soooooooo annoying how these bigger churches (and a few small cults) lean so hard on threatening e

I like to hang at local community colleges. A very wide range of people there. And more worldly/educated, usually.

It was nice of you to be good to them. I support the idea that "Just because other people have a different opinion, doesn't mean its a bad thing for them, or that we have to be mean to them". I still believe in God, because a lot of anti-religion arguments I hear are mostly just disagreeing with the historical accounts of the bible (was the earth created in 7 days, or in 4.5 billi

I can't remember where it is, but I saw a video one time where an Indian guy was putting some Mormon missionaries on the hot seat about dark skin. Would you believe in the video the (white) missionaries actually tried to tell this Indian guy that for the dark skin people who repented and became Mormon, actually had their skin gradually become lighter and lighter with time????? I couldn't beli

Ditto!! I left the church back in August 2010, because I expressed that I badly needed a job, and I'm pretty sure its because I'm a married woman that they didn't put much effort into hooking me up... I understand that there are plenty of LDS women who do work, but our local ward seems far more intent on housewives. I felt back-stabbed. I told them about our financial situation. But they

The point of my post was not to debate weather or not God exists.. But more to state that neither side has 100% proof of what they believe. There is a lot of "guessing" going on. I know we don't have absolute proof against God, because if we did, that would be the biggest event on the news of all time! "Somebody finally answered the question as old as time!" So I'm ju

Well the reason its assumed that they believe the universe came from nothing, is because there is no answer for where it came from, and when they calculate far back enough, the closest thing they can come up with is a void.

Religion suggests that we're not here to be prevented from doing things, we are here to be tested. So if this is a test, in which we are given free will, then the person who gave it to us is none of the above.

Or we can believe that some super duper nothing popped up and created the universe out of nothing.

I don't really compare humans to animals. Humans are held to higher standards of behavior, because we are more intelligent. Even if there was no God, this would still be true, by our own human laws. Lions don't go to prison for killing another lion. But a human will go to prison for killing another human.

True, it is a matter of faith. But I believe it takes just as much faith to believe that everything simply exist all by itself. And again, even if it was a matter of "something so dense that it created the universe when it exploded", you are still left with the question "what made that something? Where did it come from?" Because again, scientists believe that "Somet

True, not all atheists are afraid to die. But still, the "big bang" suddenly exploding out of nothing, and some of the other far-fetched theories... They are just as impossible as God creating it all. People seem to skip over that fact. People say there is "no proof" of God. Well, there is no proof of any other way the universe could have been created either. Thus

Well, the argument that "something cannot come from nothing".... That's not my argument. That's what scientists believe. I don't believe that, I think there are many things we cannot explain.

I DO NOT believe the LDS church is true. But I do believe in god. I really don't think one has anything to do with the other. Here is a great video I found on YouTube, which better explains what I think: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dwq4BtjVG7U&feature=channel_video_title I know a lot of people don't believe in God, simply because he doesn't jump in and "save" everyone

Believing in God is no more or less crazy than believing an entire universe just 'poofed" into being, from absolute nothingness. I don't see why religious people catch all the heat.

Everyone believes they are doing what is best for the greater good. That's the only way they can talk themselves into continuing with their behavior.

Well, their answer would be "For God", and maybe they really do believe it. But personally, I think its because the church has them so brainwashed/mind controlled that they are too terrified to do anything less.

I certainly wouldn't count caffeine as harmful, not unless you drank too much, but then again, anything you eat or drink can be harmful if you get too much, so... Besides, on that show "The Doctors", they said that caffeine actually helps to prevent and fight cancer. So in moderation, I fail to see how it is harmful.

I do believe in God, because my mother has been clinically dead before, and she saw what was on the other side. She was baptized into the LDS church, but she almost never attended, and never went far in it. I DO NOT believe that the Mormon church is true, though. Because my mother (while on the other side) was never pressured to be "more worthy", and she was allowed to be with her
