Every time they show up, invite them in, start unbuttoning your shirt/taking off your belt and say "I always knew you guys were into 3somes!". *Warning, this could backfire catastrophically...unless you're into that sort of thing, then, bonus?

Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. My MP and his troll, err wife, were infamous for responding to all calls of sick missionaries as follows: "Did your companion give you a blessing? Are you drinking enough water? Keep working and if it doesn't get better in 3 days I'll call you." Serious, they would magically know if we were better or not in three days. this was in Brazil btw w

I'd do it. I sucked up a byu undergrad, go to grad school elsewhere, and have an excellent job lined up now. You're plenty inoculated against the cult from the sound of it, I'd see it as a way to screw those who've screwed you hard.

Welcome to the mindfuck my friend. Seriously though, better to do it now prior to a marriage than with 2 kids in tow.

I'll be moving there for the summer, and then I hope to relocate there permanently in 2016. Anchorage area btw.

I'll raise you one. The cult teaches that there is no such thing as soul mates and that any man and women who live the gospel can have a happy successful marriage. But then they also attempt to claim that families are eternal--including having been preordained before this life. Now how can a family be preselected with a mother, father, and children if the parents aren't soulmates?

Thanks folks. Apparently she had to drop them off that night because they are the permission forms for winter youth conference and they are due Sunday. Since she forgot to bring them before now, and she is leaving in the morning, she had the right to be a complete moron about social protocols

So my wife is the young women's president in our ward. She and I are not believing members but she enjoys the social aspect. The ward is clueless as to what we believe. Anyway, last night the stake young women's president (her hubby is the 2nd counselor in our ward) texts my wife asking if she can drop some papers off. It was just after 10pm, I'm a law student in finals and my wife is pregnant

I served in Campinas 2008-2010. In my MTC group we had one elder baptize just over 100(only 6 adults) then I was second highest with 72(zero kids without one or both parents). Our mission was the 6th highest baptizing in Brazil. Most missionaries had 15-40 baptisms and retention was abysmal. I can only imagine it has gotten much worse now that most people down there have good internet access.

Here is a delightful trip down memory lane. I served in Brazil 2008-2010 under a Nazi native MP. He got the brilliant idea six months into my mission that we needed to have word for word memorized lessons like missions used to. Mandatory. Yeah, I never used that shit, argued constantly with him about it even. Finally two weeks before he and I were ending our missions (we finished at the same tim

I read this on my mission, it is pretty comprehensive as to what sins get what punishment. I read the 2009 version FYI. My favorite (and most bitter) tidbit is that youth can do anything sexual before age 14 without losing mission eligibility, and hetero sex before 16 same thing.

My mother is a hoarder---as bad as any I've seen on the TV shows. It is something that unless your friend truly admits she has a problem, will never be resolved. When my mom lost her house to foreclosure and had to move in with my wife and I, we had to use storage units---as in 6 8x20'x35' units and they were stuffed to the rafters. This was after we had filled to over flowing 3 40 yard dumpsters

I grew up in highland/alpine. Honestly, there are more Mormons there than anywhere else in the world as a percentage I think. But, if you are OK with you neighbors pretending you don't exist once they realize you're not jumping in the water to be baptized, then go for it. The schools are really quite good, but again if your kids aren't in seminary then they'll be love bombed all the way to the f

Absolutely possible. I was made an Ap at 6 months in the field, foreign speaking no less. I had 19 companions and baptized people who really did benefit from the church (lot of drug and alcohol addicts who are still active and sober). I didn't chuck kids in the water at I could only stretch my integrity so far. But I was able to do some great touristy things and fly under the radar. The secret i

Having just gone and reread it, I'm 90% sure it has been revised to include more language affirming the LDS belief of becoming gods. I remember last December reading it and having a wtf moment about godly potential doublespeak by the church.

Here's a quick look. I'm a law student with an offer to start next year at 120k/yr. My brother is going into aerospace engineering and has an offer to work with just a bachelors for 85k/yr. Assume he works for 30 years with an average salary over career of 140k, he alone costs the church 420k over thirty years plus offerings. I will likely work 20 years at an average of 250k (given my focus), I'
