Moisture! Ha! I haven't lived in Utah for a while, so I almost forgot how much that word is used. Yes, the Lord's "tender mercy" was sending your area some moisture while your kids were sick for a week. Very merciful. And tender.

Since when does TSCC admit that any of the beloved apostles are having any problems with memory? Isn't there a history of pretending like that's not ever an issue? Just the fact that they would make an official announcement makes me suspicious that there's much more to their story. And to Scott's story. Maybe there is something to the rumor...

"Tender mercies"... whatever that is. One of my FB friends posted on her wall over the winter: "My kids have all been sick this week, but we woke up to snow this morning. I love the tender mercies of the Lord!" Yep! The Lord sent you some snow.

My husband is a huge church history buff and as a result, was done with TSCC before me. He was worried about how it would affect our relationship. So he faked it for a while. Then he started dropping little tidbits of info. to see what I would think. 1) Did you know JS had over 30 wives? 2) Did you know he married other men's wives? 3) Why shouldn't women have the priesthood? 4) What is

Great idea about saving any money we might have him pay in rent! Because, yes, he just blows through it right now. Thanks!

I hope he's smart enough to know better, but those little brains between the legs seem to do most of the thinking sometimes! One more thing to talk to him about...

Thank you! I totally agree that it is not helping him to enable him in life. I have always leaned towards having higher expectations, and hubby always thinks that things will just work themselves out. Definitely different parenting styles, even though we agree on what we want to be the ultimate outcome. I've been trying to get hubby to take the lead, and nothing changes. I know he hates

This morning I saw my 20 yr old stepson sneak out of the house with a girl. He was very difficult as a teenager and moved out immediately after high school graduation, back to the state where we used to live. He moved back in with us right before the holidays last year, supposedly planning to start college. His dad was happy and relieved to have him closer. Right now he's working at a fas

Given that at least two others are about to kick the bucket (Packer and Hales) any day, now, I'm sure that whoever does the choosing has already chosen at least a couple of replacements.

I've been reading about Bible origins. Crazy that the gospels that everyone quotes as "Jesus said ___" or "Jesus did ___ " were all just stories told over the years that were compiled by anonymous authors (like the church essays?) many years after his death. And then were translated repeatedly into various languages and edited and recopied thousands of times. How accurate c

My guess: L. Whitney Clayton or Kim Clark. If Hinckley were still in charge, I might guess a minority, since he was more concerned about the public image of the church. Monson (or whoever is running the show) leans towards ultra conservative white men.

He'll be white, 60+ yrs old, from Mormon corridor, somehow related to one of the current 12. That is God's pattern -- old white men (preferably from UT or ID) need to be in charge.

They call watering your lawn 3 times a week water restrictions? Wow! No wonder California is running out of water. I live in Illinois with an over-abundance of rain, most of the time, and we're only allowed to water 3 times a week. Of course, most of us never water at all and still have green lawns. But we also get to deal with miserable humidity. :) If you live in a desert, learn to

I think most religious people believe in some kind of heaven and believe they'll be with loved ones there. Amazing that Mormons think they have the monopoly on truth and on heaven! In LTomP's offensive talk about "counterfeit" families, he talked about how many religions emphasize the importance of families, but that Mormons take it to an eternal level. Because Mormons have to make s

You can get a copy of your patriarchal blessing. Apparently the church keeps a record of all of them. You just have to request it and they'll send it to you. In case you're really curious...

Every living thing is created from energy. And that energy will always exist in some form. It's so interesting to contemplate what happens after we die! I've finally come to the conclusion that no one really knows -- how can we? After mentally letting go of TSCC's teachings about God/preexistence/exaltation, it's a relief to feel like I can live for this life and enjoy every bit of it,
