I have answered that part of the question similarly, rebutting that it would be hard giving up not working and being literally worshiped. But at the same time the question still kind of stands, don't you think someone would have enough integrity to step up and say something by now?

Leaving the Church mentally came easy when every question I had about the church had a mountain of evidence in the negative and little to zero in the positive. But there was one question about leaving the church I could never seem to reconcile. Until now (sort of). I remember a fight with my father one night about the church post coming out about my Apostacy (im 17 and this was about 5 months

You may remember him from his solo single he released a few months ago called "Trash" where he spit on a painting of Joseph Smith and ripped up the Book of Mormon while he sang his decry of the religion he used to hold. Well

1. Non-Religious: Atheist, Sometimes a Deist, I go back and forth, so I generally just say Agnostic. 2. Right-Wing (Conservative) 3. Yes, I became a hard social progressive as I started to get out of the church but held on to the fiscal ideas of conservatism, so I started to call myself a libertarian. Eventually I was convinced by some liberal friends and now see myself as a progressive.

I'm sure this has in general been asked before but I am myself curious with the current batch of frequent users. 1. What is your current Religious Status after leaving the church? 2. What was your political status as a Mormon? (if it evolved as you were still a Mormon state here as well) -Right-Wing (Conservative, Right-Leaning Centrist/Moderate, Neo-Conservative, Tea Party, L

I'm not quite sure if the hatred of Muslims is the main driving factor towards LDS recruitment in the US military, as another said it probably has more to do with the authoritarian nature of both and it transferring easily, but I can definitely say it contributes. All of my family (all TBMs) are extremely anti-muslim. They could be the most peaceful loving people in the world and the hatred is st

In one of my talks with the stake president during my "Coming out" about my "apostasy" I confronted him.about it. I said: "We would never call a child of GOP voting parents 'republicans' or progressive parents 'liberals' or 'democrats' or any political label because we recognize that an 8 year old doesn't have the capacity to answer a question about the economy or soci

I'm pretty sure you get charged for being a pedophile if you do a 14 year old. It's still underage.

Yes and I love the show. There's so much subtlety in the struggles that the protagonist goes through in his feelings about the cult as well as so much subtlety in the behaviors that the characters within the cult exhibit, it really was made for people like us. Regular people who didn't go through this will never understand the sheer complexity that has been put into the show about what it means t

Thanks for the advice guys, but I really should have stated that this was not my coming out about Atheism, that happened about a month ago and they haven't been making me go to church. This was just a conversation about a summer vacation that somehow led its way to my "apostacy" and turned into what it was.

Actually my father and mother or any of my family really are still unaware that I was ever even involved with the homosexual girl. I think he would blow a gasket if he found out I helped save her life (so backwards right). I'm a straight guy so I don't have to worry about hiding sexuality from someone as bigoted as he is, but I think him knowing I support LGBTQ+ already crossed the line as it is.

I'm 17, I recently posted the "preventing suicide" thread the other day on here and on Rddit Exmormon (which if I might brag made it to best of Rddit a few days ago) so usually I have these kinds of emotions in control, but something about this one with my dad really made me feel awful. I recently called the girl afterward and she really kicked the shit out of me (in a good way), an

My father and I just concluded a conversation and depending on what part of it heated argument about my apostasy. It ended very badly, after discussing a lot of various issues that I have he said I should stop worrying about the little things because they don't matter. So I said fine, barring all little things, there are a select big things that I can not reconcile. He said like what? And I went

Thank you, and yes she just flew out last week. I still can't believe such a prestigious school and film program accepted her just on that basis but she's very lucky, I guess they sympathized with her story like us. I guess if it meant getting her out of that blackmailing hellhole, allowing her to break it to her parents and not that guy, and saving a life, accepting her was what they needed to d

Hey Aspie, I remember you telling me you were also 17 on one of my posts, and Gwen incident sounds familiar, are you in Utah? Or dealing with a crazy seminary class somewhere else? Regardless, the LGBTQ+ Suicide in Utah has made me sick, and I had a very close experience in trying to prevent the suicide of a very special homosexual girl, you can read my post I just made called "Preventin

One of my biggest reasons for recently leaving the church was the November policy and the catastrophic effect it had on LGBTQ+ members suicides in the Utah county and greater Utah area. I'm 17 and a high school student in Utah county, and along with going to the regular public school, half of my B-days I spend over at an advanced college credit school where kids from all over the district also pa

Has anyone seen the pilot of Hulu's new original series "The Path" yet, it's getting favorable but mixed reviews but I thought it was really really good. It's about a fictional upstate New York cult with that definitely pulls its parallels from Mormonism and Scientology, if you are an atheist or you just are fascinated by religious and cult belief due to your exmormon status then this s

God (:D), this whole Richard Dawkins thing makes me a little embarrassed to be an atheist. Of all people why are a lot of atheists extreme PC bigots who wish to break ties with someone they disagree with on one single issue. Great video. I hope people will continue to see the great Richard has done for our community and continue to support him in his efforts.
