It’s a good excuse for them to have a quickie wedding at some fun spot and then all the garmie-free sex their little hearts desire. Then when large gatherings are kosher again they can have a sealing and big reception and everyone will understand and still come out to celebrate. The stress of not bumping uglies until the woman gives herself to the man over the alter will be off and the party wi

The head of the CDC explained it today for all the idiots who spout "the flu has killed blah blah blah number of people so why are we worried about this one that has only killed a thousand or such." This one just came on the scene. He said the normal flu kills .01% of people who contract it. The head doc today said coronavirus is ten times as deadly and way more transmitable. Sure

I refuse to stay away from anything. Especially since I hate crowds and lines. Now is the time I want to be out. But I already work from home so that cuts a lot of risk. If it gets really bad, I’ll be wanting to help people who can’t get out.

I have to admit that the timing of this virus is a little on the comical side—not that there’s anything the least bit funny about the disease itself. But the fact that it will disrupt Rusty’s big bi-centennial of the first hallucination that was supposed to be the pinnacle of the old geezer’s reign is just poetic justice. How do you justify gawdalmighty not holding it back until the Rusty

Yes. The whole religion is based on fraud. It was started as a fraudulent scheme and I think that has been the underlying paradigm throughout its 200 year history. And that mindset filters through to its adherents. Utah is the fraud capital of the world and It’s almost like we were raised to always be looking for the next scheme. Holding hands with someone of the same sex will get you church di

What I'm finding amazing is that the church is stockpiling those things. What for? So that if the time comes that we all need protective gear, they'll have it? Not to give to their minions for safety, but to jack up the price about 1,000 times and use the proceeds to increase the 100 billion to 200B.

Saw on the local Tennessee news this morning a couple who were blown from their house and ended up with a few cuts and scrapes and then it showed their house, which had been leveled. The guy (the homeowner) was like "This was God! Only God could do that! Only God could get two people out of that pile of rubble over there with only minor scrapes. Man can't do that, it was GOD!"

Y’all are missing the obvious. Dontcha think it’s a little coincidental that this virus showed up just in time that the height of it will be right during the super special celebration of the miraculous first hallucination? The event that would sow solid belief into the hearts of all followers of the beloved founding philanderer? Huh? Coincidence or mystic happening? It’s SATAN I tell ya

The church has settled a number of cases of sex abuse that happened in scouting. They ALWAYS settle and there is always an NDA with explicit threat involved. This was talked about a lot in Utah Valley legal circles.

I had it last month. Went to the doc because it was the first time I’d had a high fever in about 20 years and couldn’t breathe Thought it was bronchitis. I’d had a flu shot. It came back positive for influenza B. The inhaler helped immensely. By the time I had to travel for work a week later the cough was gone but took several weeks to really feel like I hadn’t just been beaten up.

As a side note, the high councilor who asked me that question was our former bishop. It came out about a year later that he’d been having an affair with a girl younger than his oldest daughter for several years (which meant during the time he was sitting on other people’s high council courts.

Yes. After I was ordered to attend my then-hubby’s high council court and I was asked in front of 16 men if I felt like I had sexually satisfied my husband (I answered, “well, obviously not”), he was put on probation. Basically means “you can’t pray, speak or take the sacrament in church, but we still expect your money and if we need someone to pick peaches, we’ll call you.” This wa

Oh that’s hilarious. What’s even funnier is that I know mormon adults who would read that and go, “yeah! See! Answer THOSE questions smarty pants.”

Wow. What a task. I just don’t get people who are all “I love plastic. I love oil. Climate change is a hoax, blah, blah, blah.” I mean, even if you’re not changing any of your habits, at least CARE. And at least try to make the easy changes. Then they tell me how much they care about their grandkids. I call bullshit. If you are all fine with leaving them with an ocean like that, pois

I agree. As it was, they were given an extra 3 years to ratify, during which time some states rescinded their votes. I was out there in God’s Army during that extension time trying to get people to vote to ratify since it went to a vote of the people in my state (Nevada). You can’t now hold the states to what their votes were 40 years ago. They need a redo and there are not 2/3 of the states

Good grief. Isn't there a chance he did it just because he honestly believes his oath he made "to God" as he puts it (placing his hand on a Bible and swearing to do the right thing for the country), meant something? Poor Mitt. If those Evangelicals had done their jobs they would have converted him to the true American religion so he could get saved like them, and then his oath on

Well, it's not going to make people tithe less who want a temple pass. And I seriously doubt there are many people who tithe for any other reason. There might be some who can't do the full 10%, but give what they can, but why? You don't get a limited-time pass for 8%. Or 80% of the blessings. It's 10% or nothing, so nothing. What they are more afraid of is exactly what's happening. It is

Oh, you thought “choose the right” meant choose to do what’s right? So funny. No. It literally means choose the RIGHT (wing). It’s just another way to help Mormons remember not to think. Just look at your hand, read the ring, then look at the ballot, find the word that starts with R and choose it. There. The thinking has been done. Isn’t it marvelous, isn’t it wunerful how God takes

I have some good memories, but I wouldn't call it nostalgia. Good memories were things like girls camp (in the old days when we didn't even take our scriptures and just had fun), all-Southern California youth conference on Catalina Island, my mother taking me and some of my friends to Utah for June Conference. Anyone remember that? (it included the church-wide Roadshow and dance festival finals

Why is that BS? Maybe he actually does believe a good Mormon chooses the right. I doubt he believes God will smite him because most of us suspect he's had his second anointing. If that's the case, he can lie all he wants. It's the thing that the Evangelical senators fall back on. They're saved. God will not hold them responsible for their evil deeds. At the end of the day, it was certainly in

They no longer send confirmation letters? That’s funny. I guess they were wasting a lot of toner printing out “should you wish to re-join your local bishop can assist you” tens of thousands of times a year. I mean, since no one was taking them up on the offer. Congrats. You can now really figure out your own path.

Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Yes, lots of people who struggle financially can't pay a full 10% tithing. And if you can't pay 10%, don't pay anything. It's not like we were ever taught that gawdalmighty prorates blessings, like you'll get 8% of the blessings he woulda given you if you pay 8%. So, "see, brother and sister Somethingson don't pay tithing and look... they're stru

Have you ever read the book "The Glass Castle"? Your stories of your youth and your father, especially how much you moved around, remind me so much of the father in that book. But loved your comment, "the madness that denies itself." I do now think I have a right to claim a more narcissistic father than even your own. Mine was even narcissistic FROM THE GRAVE!. He and m

I think it was probably late elementary school (the 60’s) and having a hard time believing God had cursed Black people and didn’t want them in the church. (And YES, we were taught that it was ok if they were baptized but that it shouldn’t be encouraged). When I was in my Freshman year of college, my father told me that I’d be horsewhipped if I ever brought home a (derogatory word for Blac

What??? No more stake Beehive slumber parties? Back in the 60’s that was the highlight of our year. One year we even watched zombie movies. Those were the days. When we could have activities just for fun and fellowship. No faith-promoting ulterior motive required.

I think my experience (it was the last endowment ceremony I ever did) was because the guy doing the God part was tall and I’m short. I thought it was his knee poking me in the abdomen until I realized his knee was against my leg. Then I was there in that grasp realizing what was the situation was. There was no mistaking it. I was just trying to get through it and go get changed and go home. I
