OMG. I thought I was the only one who still had that book. It was horrible. And yes, my mother threw it at me to read myself and I guess that was her idea of sex ed. If I didn’t hate myself before that book, I certainly did after. I keep it now to show people what I was raised with. Blows them away. But good for a laugh when you’re with girlfriends and have had a little too much wine. Stupid

You are right, it is still very much the teaching that dark skin is a curse. Unless they've changed the BOM. I know they changed "white and delightsome" to "pure and delightsome," but my QUAD still has the white part. Also, you still see pics all over mormondumb of the heaven with white God sitting on his throne with white Jesus next to him and hordes of white minions, all

I was 23 when "God changed his mind about Black people." I'm officially a senior citizen now. So most of the people who are still LDS and grew up with the extremely racist teachings are at least 60 and over. It was worse for my parents' generation, but the majority of them are gone. So as we move out, younger generations have a harder time even believing how racist the church teachin

I'm surprised we haven't seen "Pre-existent Fence-Sitters' Lives Matter" signs. Fact is, you will never have meaningful conversations about race relations in Utah and Idaho. Who are you going to have those conversations with? All your Whitey co-workers? They just don't even grasp the concept of cities that are majority minority and the glaring disparity in all facets of life in tho

Yes, it's quite funny. They painted themselves into a corner with the brush of continuing revelation. It's kind of an unwritten rule that no so-called prophet can throw the previous ones under the bus. Can't change something unless you can come up with a way to spin it as "more complete" knowledge from the Lard and not a reversal of past policy or scripture.

I know. Too bad that there was no way to forsee a future devastating gender imbalance.

Yes, it makes me wonder if there was some deals being made with Vallow and she might have given up some info. For awhile I wanted so badly to believe that the kids had been stashed away in some doomsday bunker and would still be found. Could not believe a mother could be so callously living her life in Hawaii if she'd buried her kids. But as time went on, it became pretty evident that the kid

Yes, gag worthy. If you had to give a youth talk you just grabbed one, flipped to some gaggy page and read some boring tripe. HOW did we sit through mormon meetings for decades? I mean there is no secret to how mormons turn into brainless zombies when we were raised on that stuff.

You are spot on. Lord what I went through before it finally hit me that addicts don’t change. They move on to their next victim until they use them up and then on again. Manipulation is the only game they know. They have nothing that comes close to a conscience. Unfortunately that’s just a survival technique. Your advice to just WALK is the best advice you can give someone but so hard for the

Faith is good if it works for you and adds, rather than detracts from your life. If we're on this board, we all got to a place where mormonism no longer worked for us. For some, any kind of faith or belief in the supernatural no longer worked. For me, it just made me realize that it was the social aspect of religion that I missed, not that I didn't have a belief. I found a replacement for

Yes. They did that all the years I was growing up and I remember it being done in our BYU married student ward. I hated mormon Mother's Day services. "We honor you, we put you up on a pedestal, we give you a flower. After today go back to shutting your traps and spreading your legs."

Well, some children suck too. There are two sides to every story. You skip Mother's Day and we sucky mothers will skip son's and daughter's day (the day we gave birth and vowed to fuck our children up). Too bad we can't be as perfect as our children. Some of us played the parent game with the cards we were dealt--for me it was believing I had to marry the first THING that came along that could

I'm pretty sure I'll feel some when the players who ignored this pandemic when it could have been contained get to experience the consequences of that. But it probably won't happen. Those people get tested daily and at the first positive sign will have the best that medical science has to offer raining down on them. They won't be just one of dozens of dying people dying alone. But a little scha

When I lived in Provo, and was still attending church, I told them I had no interest in paying for a flag to be put in my yard, it was the last thing in hell I was going to spend money on and especially since I didn't support the Boy Scouts policy of discrimination. They still put a flag in my yard every holiday. Whatever. I guess they thought they'd guilt me into paying it the next year, but th

I have a co-worker whose mother is in an Alzheimer’s facility that is infected and she has tested positive. She has fewer physical ailments and is relatively young (early 70s). But my friend is just beside herself not being able to see her or even figure out if her mom knows what’s going on or what her situation is. They’re so overwhelmed that the staff just doesn’t have the time to deal

So maybe I'm slow on the uptake, but I now realize that all mormons I have a connection to are posting pics of themselves and their families on Sundays and they're all dressed up, like in dresses for the women and white shirts and ties for the men and even little boys. To sit in their freakin living rooms! Is this something they were told to do? WHY??? And I thought they were all doing virtu

Yes. They talk to the name of Jesus. That's what makes them special witnesses.

"The pipes' strong vertical thrust," haha. A little phallic if you ask me. But goes along well with Jesus' nipple.

THAT was creepy. I guess by those standards, I can say that my father "visited" me one night after he died too. He had a belt in his hand and was standing by the bed and said we had some unfinished business. I tried to get away but the bed was up against the wall. I dove for the bottom of the bed and he grabbed my foot. I pulled hard and fell to the floor. Where I woke up! Because

All I care about is that I’ve put enough roundup on it to stop that pesky tree virus. Yeah, my tree has a lot of Mormon branches. But of the eight roots that have sprung from it (kids and grandkids) only one is still growing in fertile mormon soil. Funny thing, that’s my favorite root. So I just hope it doesn’t become too strong.

Churches will be meeting in many places in the next week or so. Restaurants, gyms, salons, retail stores will open. If people want to pack into a church, it would be fine if it weren’t for the fact that they’ll be circulating in the broader community. Otherwise it would be fine to just let natural selection take its course. But it puts the responsibility on us individually to distance our

I doubt it will have much of an impact. Activity rates church wide are so low that those who stay are either super entrenched in belief or stay for social and family reasons. The only thing that might move the needle are people who had too much time on their hands while online during quarantine that they came across the troubling facts about church history and doctrine and went down the rabbit ho

So say a half million people pay tithing to the Mormon church on their stimulus money (that number is probably very low). So that would be 60 million bucks just in the adult payments, not taking into consideration how many kids they all have. Mormon, Inc. could give the entire 60M away. After calling out the press and making sure everyone knew and it would look like huge donations for them. And t

And it's really hideous. I saw a picture of my father's headstone. It doesn't even look like a man blowing a vuvuzela, it looks like a planet of the apes monkey with a big round nose blowing it. Hopefully there won't be room for it when we bury my mother there and have to have the headstone redone to have both their names on it.

I've seen some clips on Facebook of the hankie wave thing. I thought I was going to fall off my chair laughing. OMG, it was so hilarious watching three 90-year-old baldies with their old man shit-eating grins waving their hankies and Dalin getting out of rhythm and Rusty giving him the stink eye. And you're sitting there thinking THESE are the people who think WE are the deceived ones. I would

Yep. They wait to fast for rain until it's in the forecast, they will fast for relief from the virus when the rate of new cases starts lowering. That should be just about the right time. Isn't it wunerful, isn't it marvelous!
