When I started this thread, I was thinking of people who are capable of looking after themselves.

When my husband and I lived in the DC area, we had neighbor friends who had been raised Catholic. They wanted their daughters to have some Catholic training, but they didn't care about church themselves. So every Sunday, they dressed up their two daughters and sent them to church with one of the other Catholic neighbors who taught confirmation class. I wondered what the point of THAT was... I

Reading anon123's post about having to go to church today got me to thinking... It really is pointless to make people go to church. I grew up a mainstream Presbyterian, which is a pretty benign denomination as Christian churches go. Every week, my parents forced me to go to church. I had to sit by myself because my dad was in the choir and my mom was a church organist, often not even at the

Well, as a fellow writer, I see one tiny silver lining to all of this... This experience will give you new things to write about and perhaps some good photo ops... I admire your resilience. Sorry about your situation. I hope things work out for you soon!

I always wanted to be a mom, but my husband had a vasectomy when he was with his ex wife. He got it reversed for free, courtesy of the Army. I haven't gotten pregnant and at this point, don't think I want to spend thousands of dollars to get pregnant, especially since my husband's daughters have turned out to be so hateful and refuse to speak to him... Parenthood has turned out to be a signif

Glen Campbell's drunken mug shot? LOL Seriously, I find Shawn McCraney hilarious. He always p'wns the TBMs who call him and give him a hard time.

I don't like it either. I never refer to my husband as "DH". I usually just use his first name.

I read somewhere that the Chiller channel was considering picking it up, but I guess they didn't. I also read that the pods were all destroyed... Too bad. That was a really cool show.

It used to air on the Fox Reality channel. Episodes are still available on Hulu. It's a very interesting reality/game show. I decided to watch Solitary 4.0 today and one of the contestants is a Mormon dance teacher. She wears a bikini, has big fake boobs, and wears lots of makeup. I think she did a mission in Japan. She also chooses to drink a coffee drink on the show... Guess she's no

I'm glad you still get to see your dad. My husband's kids haven't seen him since 2004. I often wonder if it bothers them that he's been erased from their lives.

Therapy works... I am living proof. My life turned around for the better when I found a good therapist and started dealing with my depression. Here's a song for you to help boost your mood! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFBAadEOx3Q

You can't buy alcohol in GA or SC on Sunday. In GA, a lot of restaurants are closed on Sunday for that reason. In VA, you can't buy hard liquor (unless you're in a restaurant) or alcohol between midnight and 6:00am.

Who is she to decide what is appropriate for everybody else? Who taught her that the human body is dirty and inappropriate? I feel sorry for her kids... what a loon! Censoring art textbooks? Wow...

That is chilling... reminds me a bit of Jean Kilbourne's research on the effects advertising has on people. It's all about winning hearts and minds and controlling people. Ick.

That sounds like the kind of thing my husband's TBM ex wife does... however, she did those kinds of tacky things even before she and my husband converted. I bet she does them even more often now. In 2004, TBM ex invited herself, her current husband, and her kids from three marriages to my in laws' home for Christmas. She expected my husband and me to show up and stay in a hotel while she and

I've been pretty lucky... luckier than you two, anyway. My husband has only deployed once since we got married. He does a lot of TDYs, though, and that causes him to be gone an inopportune times. I almost went with him on this upcoming trip, since it's to my birthplace and very close to where my parents live.

I think the fact that you see yourself in my description is a big clue that even if you do happen to have some of those traits, they aren't to the point of being really obnoxious. The lady I'm referring to doesn't seem to have any self-awareness, tends to be passive-aggressive, and gets very pissy if you call her out on her behavior.

She's a member of a tight-knit online messageboard I belong to. Like I said, I try hard not to engage her. I used to really enjoy discussing current events on our board, but the last time I did, the thread got contentious, mainly because she presumed to tell me how and why I feel the way I do about certain issues. I have never met this person, but she thinks she knows how my mind works and how

I've never been carted off in an ambulance. I did once faint at the Olive Garden and an ambulance was called for me. I didn't let them take me to the hospital. I don't trust medical people as a rule, even though I have a background in healthcare. I get especially antsy with doctors.
