I hated the fact there were stupid rules that none of my nonmo friends had to follow.....so I basically said fuck it and did my own thing. Church for me was a Sunday only deal. I didn't see mormons except for Sunday. Friday was party night....

I've never had the misfortune or displeasure of knowing a GA personally except for a passing acquaintance with Bill Walker of the Seventy when we were both at Ricks in the 60's but it wold be difficult to deal with such a relationship once one knows the truth and then has to deal with the condescension from the GA...

I never did obey anybody worth a $hit so I married a Catholic 39 years ago and have enjoyed a life of love and indulgence.

I never had many friends in the Cult as I wasn't raised in an LDS neighborhood and went to a school outside of the southern Alberta Moridor. Sure glad I developed lasting friendships outside the Cult that weren't based on righteous blind, mindless obedience to a pile of horse$hit.....

In southern Alberta we have Big Rock Breweries selection of fine beers.....Grasshopper Wheat Ale, Big Rock Traditional, Black Amber Ale (a fine stout in the Guiness Tradition) and Warthog Ale....all good. And then there's the Granville Island Brewery in Vancouver, so we have lots of un-boring beers to chose from...and you folks in the SW USA can get Maui Brewing's Mana Wheat Ale...YUM!

I have not officially resigned either. Just don't care that much if the church knows who I am or not. I live mt life completely outside the church or any church for that matter. My religious/spiritual beliefs are my own and not their business. There have been efforts to get me back but I ignore them...and have another beer, so to speak. I still have family in the cult who I am friendly with. Othe

I just never was comfortable with the control I felt I was under from about the time I was ordained to the Aaronic priesthood. I never was good at obeying or following stupid rules so that kinda started it. As a result, I never read the B of M...or the Bible. I heard about stuff in both books in Sunday school and priesthood meetings but nothing ever stuck. I just wasn't interested. I progressed t

When I attended Ricks in '66-'67 I encountered a Mormon zeal I had never been exposed to in southern Alberta (well maybe if I'd lived in the Moridor I would have) and found it bizarre and stifling. That experience more than any other drove me away from the TSCC.

I was BIC.....but I never gained a testimony. I used to hear the testimonies given at F&T meetings and always thought what a load of horse$hit they were and of course at MORG funerals there's lots of it too....whatever....My folks were both TBM, held office but I never once heard them bear their testimonies. I imagine my Dad did when he was on HC and travelling all over the stake to speak, bu

My folks took me to Ricks (500 miles away from here) and stayed over night and made sure I was settled and had everything I needed before they left. Much better than dropping me off at the curb. They were superb, nurturing parents compared to some I read about here.....

It's damn near abuse to send a kid off for 2 years like that. And if it's God's will, well, your God is a unloving, uncaring SOB and sure as hell not the god I was taught about....what a disgrace!

They have called sporadically over the last decade or so, especially since my Dad passed away in 2000. One of his old friends keeps trying to guilt me into coming back to the CULT ("it would make your Dad so happy, YADA, YADA, YADA"...give me a friggin' break!!). But I ignore him and hung up on his last phone call. I'm almost 64 years old and have nothing to prove to anybody...and nobod
