I think it begins with people listening to a preacher with a grade 7 education telling them vaccines are evil and the earth is 6000 years old...and them believing it!

I zoned out during F&T...especially after mom got baptized and I had to endure her blubbering on about the gawzpel. That was painful.

I don't watch Jeopardy but my late wife's evangelical Christian cousins in W Virginia do...religiously. I wonder what they make of Jennings and the Mormon centric questions?

I chose not to attend my Mormon cousin's funeral last month in Raymond. Just wasn't in the mood to be preached at. I expressed my condolences to his family. I did however attend a close friend's wife's secular funeral service where there was no mention of a diety. It was an honor to be there to honor her life and memory.

My academic advisor at Ricks was also my bishop and in the 67 yearbook he's pictured in his office with a massive portrait of BY on the wall behind him. Like, twice life-size. Creepy.

I imagine Lethbridge will bend over backwards and kiss their own ass when the development permit and plans are filed for the local McTemple/ediface/ode to wretched excess. I hope a brew pub goes up across the street.

Just watched some aerial video. Devastating damage. Places I've stayed, favorite restaurants...gone...but it's the homes lost that is so tragic. I am heartbroken. So many memories my late wife made there and later with our family.

Had my first cup at 17. Thoughts of the W of W never once entered my mind whilst sipping that cup o' Joe either.

As far as I know, my folks never applied for a post retirement calling...and I'm so thankful they didn't. After mom died I believe dad began to lose his faith in the cult.

In addition to the aforementioned Knight and Bar K2 I believe they own a ranch further north in the Brooks area and I think they own a dairy farm in the Fraser Valley of BC. They also own 500 acres of irrigated land SE of Lethbridge that is rented to a local farmer.

I had my first beer at 16...not long after I'd been ordained a priest...I was not impressed. Subsequent beers tasted better. Flash forward 59 years to last night around a fire pit and those 3 German dark lagers were tasty.

Thanks Nightingale. I think it's generally conceded by the residents that it's got something to do with groundwater/well water and being do close to The Rockies. Even people who moved away decades ago seem at risk.

Not sure about that. The study was not comparative to anywhere outside Alberta or maybe Canada. I know 90% of my family who live or lived there died from cancer.

My dearly beloved dad loved to laugh...loudly. I miss hearing that laugh still...23 years after he died. He would have had an opinion on these BS orders from on high.

I received the Ensign after my dad died until his subscription ran put at the end of that year. I was amazed at what drivel it preached. I guess I shouldn't have been that surprised.

My second cousin Phil, erstwhile and righteous TBM, died a couple weeks ago age 72 of cancer...like so many of his extended family have. He was raised NW of Cardston in a community that has a higher than the national average cancer rate. I remember distinctly a lecture by my priests quorum leader about how powerful was the priesthood and how that adherence to the gospel's teaching could defeat
