I bet they won't do the scenes where the white Indians turn dark when they disobeyed God and turned white again when they did obey God.

I was bored and watched an episode of The Big Valley yesterday called "A Passage of Saints" from 1969. A tale of a man and what people thought were his wife and daughter living on a farm they rented from the Barkleys. When the town found out they were Mormons and the daughter was in fact his second wife, they sought to drive them out. The episode was probably a fairly accurate port

Cowdery said he translated all but a few pages. During March 1829, Joseph translated “a few” pages—with his wife, Emma, acting as scribe—before he was commanded to “stop for a season.” (D&C 5:30.) So Joseph dictated a few pages to Emma, what's the problem? It's not like Emma had anything to compare it against for accuracy. Joseph likely was simply telling part of the story

If Adam & Eve did not really exist, that causes many problems in Mormonism from the scriptures to the temple ceremonies. http://www.mormonthink.com/scienceweb.htm#adam

I am surprised he was that comfortable talking about his sins. Sounds like you had a good, non-confrontational discussion. Good for you and your restraint.

I was very sad indeed when I read this yesterday. Grant is such a trail blazer who has endured a lot of heartache by making the decision to tell the truth about the church. Grant has always helped me in dealing with the church's uncomfortable issues I learned about from his book and others. I feel privileged that he let me publish a Home Page for him on MormonThink for everyone to enjoy. He al

When they start openly discussing the Second Anointing then maybe I'll believe they are really making 'an effort' to come clean with everything. But the sugar-coated essays are reason enough to say that the church still does not want everything in plain site.

John Gee doesn't think there's enough of it to translate - but there is: In this age of computer-assisted research, we are baffled as to why cryptographic studies have not yielded results in this area. This document could very well prove that the Book of Mormon is truly an ancient, historical book but yet it is never talked about by the Church and LDS scholars largely ignore it. We can't help

For me it would depend on two things; 1) Do you want to talk to him about the issues, possibly enlighten him? and 2) How well do you know the issues? I personally would welcome the opportunity to spill all the beans on church history to a bishop or stake prez. But I know the material very well. I have talked to bishops before and they were clueless about things like Joseph marrying other

There simply is no explanation that makes any sense at all for explaining why Joseph's interpretations of the three facsimiles are completely wrong according to modern-day understanding of Egyptology. Joseph was very specific in identifying the very Egyptian characters in the facsimiles that he gave translations for such as: Facsimile#3, explanation of figure 2, Joseph writes: "King Phara

Thanks for reminding me about the Trek series on Netflix. I'll start a binge watchin'. Love Trek Reminds me of an old thread where we talked about how so many of the Trek episodes had parallels to the Church, My best example is from the original Trek 'For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky' episode which was about an entire civilization that was 'deceived' by the creators into t

When I brought that up to my bishop, he said that those women's husbands had already died when Joseph married them. That of course is the only justification that would makes sense. But when he was informed that those husbands were indeed alive, he had no answer other than to say "I'm just glad I didn't live during those times". Ah, thanks for clearing that up Bishop.

This is why the Church released the essays and is slowly letting some of this info be known, of course in only a sugar-coated way. Now, when a member is told something like the Book of Abraham papyri has been found and Egyptologists show that it doesn't match at all with what Joseph said, the TBM simply says he already knows about that because he read or maybe only heard that a church essay sim
