Cowdery said he translated all but a few pages. During March 1829, Joseph translated “a few” pages—with his wife, Emma, acting as scribe—before he was commanded to “stop for a season.” (D&C 5:30.) When I brought that up to my bishop, he said that those women's husbands had already died when Joseph married them. That of course is the only justification that would makes sense. But when he was informed that those husbands were indeed alive, he had no answer other than to say "I'm just glad I didn't live during those times". Ah, thanks for clearing that up Bishop.
