A violation of procedure and politeness. Harumph! Did I spell that good old fashioned term for getting upset over a presumed and subjective violation of politeness and procedure correctly? I don't harumph much myself, at least not in public.

I am convinced this is an area where corruption of LDS accounting can be demonstrated. The system they represent is growing does not define the metrics for growth. On their website they concede as much when they acknowledge that their measurement for membership is vague. They then proceed to fail to account for exit or loss. Today that sweet looking accountant of fraud did not much exit or

I am not certain the Church will be seeking non-fiction status for the Book of mormon much longer. This is incredibly problematic moving forward, but even worse problems are ignored currently by Mormons. Is not the primary message of the Book of Mormon at this time that it is valuable to the person claiming it is valuable for the prospect?

Once women start challenging Mormonism en masse the BIC to BIC cycle will be disrupted such that Mormonism will experience a seismic shift. Parents should not be teaching or allowing their children to be taught Mormonism. Not because the history is a mess, because the doctrines, the execution of the teachings, are a mess. This article does a great job of exposing the failure of a parent to

Do you think he feels you choose to be gay? You chose to act straight. Human sexuality is not black and white, but perhaps as a TBM he still sees it that way and the confusion comes from him seeing behavior on your part that shows choice. Perhaps this is a matter of listening to him and then responding to what he says over time if necessary. This won't be science, this will be social. So

I use this behavior as an example of a cult. The institution is more valuable than the individual. In this case they give the missionary the social option to return, but with consequence. The communication if selfless would be you are welcome to return home, it would be appropriate and supported. If you prefer to stay on your mission we will support that decision as well. The Church de

Here is the "tragic" story of their son Daniel, told by His father Steven. http://www.standardofliberty.org/ourstory.htm There is redemption, so all ends up well! Stephen. Stephen is in charge of keeping their Mormon church building clean. http://www.standardofliberty.org/Contact%20us.htm They also have FB and Twitter.

http://www.standardofliberty.org/about%20us.htm Janice Barrett Graham wrote this article. She is also the author of this book explaining homosexuality. "Chased by an Elephant" http://www.amazon.com/Chased-Elephant-Janice-Barrett-Graham/dp/0972477055 It's metaphorical and in her opinion scientifically sound. She and her husband Steve have created The Standard of Liberty

We raised our 7 children in the Church; all married in the temple. We now have 23 grandchildren growing up active in the Church, our eldest grandson far from home serving a mission. What would be most useful would be to hear or read what a prophet in The Believers camp does to reconcile and bring to an accord the doctrine after replacing an Accomodationist. Perhaps this is an impossibility and why there is so little reliable Mormon doctrine. Maybe that is one of the reasons why so many of us here on RfM would love to see a Boyd Packer reign! This also allows for The

Perhaps a the BIC to BIC cycle is challenged by a family member leaving. Many here talk of the varying levels of Mormon control in their family they also talk about the intensity of departure in the family. I wonder what role waiting to resign or make public separation from Mormonism until all the right grandparents and parents die has in not allowing children and young adults know they can l

"Neither version of Going Clear is particularly sympathetic to the church, and both suggest that Scientology is more insidious than a kooky religion with good intentions and off-the-rails execution. As Gibney puts it, those speaking out now are "telling people the kind of damage that can be done by a group that puts itself above the welfare of the individuals within it."" &

I hope you won't find this unresponsive. Fear is not a good place from which to make this decision and yet this is how you are being influenced. Please find peace. There is a lot of factual evidence that proves the LDS church is not what it claims to be, but most all Mormons are not Mormons because of facts, they are Mormons because of a faith tradition that makes them feel good. I might have to do some digging around and see if there is such a thing as religious emancipation. It would provide protection for children who have parents that are in a cult. Hopefully it would still obligate the adult to care for the needs of their child, but not force them to participate in a religious organization. That is the growth model of Mormonism. To date, I have not seen a suc

It could come down to how to influence a situation. We all have different ways. Apart from resigning and saying "I am not a Mormon", in that situation. I like your solution, saying "I am not a Mormon, of course former Mormon-untrained, ill-behaved father could say "Why haven't you resigned then?" I do not like using resignation as a threat. Maybe it has worked well fo

Is that right? If she's still a member of record, she's still a member of record. I agree that it is impolite and impolitic of her father to make religion small talk. This is now a timing thing. In the seventies this was a badge of honor, now it is shameful. Not just because of what Mormons claim to believe, but because of what Mormons do. Seems like dad has already made the decision. T

That transition from teaching One True Church, fundamentalism, to it's one of many nice ways to live should be quite the negotiation! I have not seen that effort by the Q15. Wonder what that looks like on paper. Thus saith the Lord. "Never mind, but would you like to meet over a spot of tea and talk it over?"
