With over 2 million members that speak Soanish, over 1 million that speak. Portugues, and over 500,000 that speak Tagalog. Where are the translations? They have over half their membership in countries other than the United States--don't they want their non-English speaking members to have this knowledge?

I have looked into this death before. The local new did not cover it heavily. It is mentioned in blogs and I do not recall her death being mentioned in the Deseret or Church News. There were only 19 missionary deaths reported in 2014 and this was not counted as I recall. E. coli infection kills a 19-year old athlete, Sister Missionary under the health care of a mission president. http:

I wish you well. You jave a faith in a faith that does not care about you enough to minister to your needs. Have you considered educating yourself more about your faith. That is another way to fix your concern.

If there were legitimate reporters at the Trib they would request a breakdown of how they create 15.4 million members before they reported that number. I am sure in other areas of the paper they third-party identify. She's a hack or doormat. She hasn't investigated anything with a critical eye about Mormonism think of what she could really do if she had curiosity and ambition.

Have you taken a look at the facebook link above I provided. The list of people posting pride, threat, and inside jargon is breathtaking. That is a circle the wagons community. I wonder what would happen if the LDS church were to seem to have turned on them. Any polynesian GA's? I know of one polynesian MP, but apart from combining Mormonism with family what's the attraction, forever f

I wonder if those money given to the Church as tithes and offerings are vulnerable to being reclaimed if the person has child support payments they do not make.

Lou P. George. Any follow-up from police, FB, BYU, or Attuaia. You playee ball at BYU so you must srill have some donnedtions there to address the threats, FB is quite a no nonesense business when it comes to threats, the level od threats I saw could justify beinging in the police, and Aruaia has weitten that he is willing tomtalk to people about the issue. Which one worked best?

Artuaia wrote this to you. Malosi oe (Something about strength, or firmness--so it could be nice, but who knows. It's jargon within their group, maybe Atkinson speaks Samoan.) Mark Atuaia Atkinson - malosi oe (I always wanted to say it in this context) God bless. Why would someone say something in a foreign language to someone if they probably don't understand. Such a punk. Lik

Atuaia claims he didn't make a threat. In US culture. If you say to someone, "say that to my face", especially if you are a physically big person. That's a threat of violence, right? There seems to be self-pleasing attitude that people responding to a threat are out of line. I find it very validating that BYU will do nothing. If they do something, keep it in house. Ideall

I realize the LDS police will likely protect BYU, but at some point this type of gang mentality needs to be addressed. Without seeing your posts, I don't have a sense of what you were hoping to accomplish, but the

It seems obvious now, but i had not reflected in the sub-communities in Mormonism that benefit from the authoritarian structure. It is like a parasite of a parasite that has a host. That article you linked is brutal. Such an awful abuse and yet there are probably people out there that think it is just fine because that's the way things are done. The Atuaia FB page has people threatening s

https://www.facebook.com/groups/1414065195576570/?ref=ts&fref=ts A Facebook support page for Mark Attuaia was created. It is impressive that is has almost 1,400 members in just about a week. It is very troubling what they say. It is definitely an insight into the LDS community and violence, compliance, and discussion. The LDS community continues to make threats to outsiders that disa

You undertook a socially challenging conversation in a community programmed to resist your conversation. It aounds like you did it well and it sounds like they responded as they were programmed. I think the act you chose was far more generous than being combative or being silent.

I don't think the Methodist church is known for missionary work, but it seems to have an offer of a better religious community than Mormonism. Less focused on the religion and more centered on the people.

I was thinking along this line of thinking and would add that Mormonism has many splinters, the major issue being the living prophet and succession.

The comments are brutal to read. This group really got to the heavily TBM crowds. They want people either be 100% by the book or shut-up and leave. It is a toxic group that has no tolerance for opposition to the narrative. Truly the Church has members that would gladly radicalize for the most conservative values of the faith and get rid of the "liberal" and tolerant Mormons. I

Great insight. This is an example of how Mormon missionaries, leaders, and members can falsely dismiss their behavior. Marrying 15 year-olds is dismissed as common, not at all with a quick check. Financial opaqueness is a choice made by some religions, but not by all. Pretty good bet the ones that hide their numbers do so to hide abuse and fraud. Membership numbers. Some faiths report

They give their customers what they want. That is why I do not find TBMs as lovable as others. They choose to believe this stuff. They choose to ignore or be deceived. They choose to go along in spite of their "faith crisis" and all the things they claim to know that we know--they're smart too, just have better faith. This is their faith of choice and the 15 are not offering a p

https://www.lds.org/general-conference/print/2015/04/the-lord-is-my-light?lang=eng Footnote 24 is a bizarre source because all it offers is another statement that less Mormons are leaving now than in the past. It sure would be nice if there were a way to lock down this issue. The Church leaders and members reference 15.4 million members and growth as evidence of a divine nature of Mormonis

Wow! This might get the attention of the more physical defenders of the Mormon faith and antagonists of homosexuals. Often times those that are prepared to defend Mormonism refer to themselves as Stripling Warriors. This can be seen in the recent blowup on Twitter from the BYU Football coach a few tweets referenced #StriplingWarrior. Now I'll have to check and see if that name has alr

I checked my "what if" machine and If Packer were not Mormon he would have died much younger having opened and overexterted Boyd's Little Factory beyond capacity. He did die much younger, but with a smile on his face. The "what if" machine does not show him dying with a smile on his face as a Mormon, but he did live to an old age. No heaven for Boyd either way though.

Prior to becoming a BYU football coach Mark Atuaia was an Assistant to the Dean of Student Life. The Honor Code I wonder if Atuaia has ever participated in punishing a student or faculty member for opposing Church leadership or a policy of Church leadership! Chances are very good in his former position. Should student athletes on the football team find in him a threat or a friend, I guess

I don't quite see the disconnect you see. You can't imagine a teenage African wanting an education being solicited by Mormon missionaries for membership accepting their offer upon realizing that resources are being made available to members that serve a mission? Fine. I guess that's subjective as to numbers. I don't think I brought up numbers. The number of Africans converting to Mormoni

Perhaps I am seeking some value out of my/our struggle with a fundamentalist religion. I think what we learn will help us see the issues in other fundamentalist cultures. Taken to the extreme though. They actually remove genetics from their population that resist their fundamentalist religions. One of the things I hope to see realized before my time is done is a successful process, beside
