From this closed thread: http://exmormon.org/phorum/read.php?2,1436627 Noting the differences between Doctrinal focused members compared with Socially influenced members will not shield members from the actual exposure of the problems. The church is big enough in the U.S.A. to get media attention and that means education. Even the social mormons won't be able to hide from educa

My newest annoyance is this one: How can the holy spirit testify that something is true when it's been proven that a lot of things weren't true. (as in past lies and omissions and present essay lies and omissions.)

How will spending time discerning if you're being hit by God's trials or Satan's snares help you make more money? In my observation spending time thinking about that is using up time and energy that could be spent on devising a plan and steps to get out of financial problems. In my observation if a problem is really bad and a person can't get out of it they blame it on Satan. If a problem

do you remember getting a lesson in the "young adult" class about the difference between empirical knowledge and spiritual knowledge/knowing? In my lesson the teacher degraded empirical knowledge as though it were a sin. It's interesting how the word 'know' is used in conjunction with the word 'truth'. A few weeks ago 2 elders told me that I was being too intellectual and nee

JS was a complete sex perv but they think it was ordained, maybe that's why? They don't understand the comparisons between 19th century pervy polygamy and polyandry as practised by JSmith. I am anti-porn myself in a society that is clueless about how viewing people as sex objects, and sex as an exploitive entertainment, creates a society that....oh nevermind.

I thought you were talking about the forum NOM (New Order Mormon) and thought wait a minute, that forum isn't LD$ founded. ......when acronyms collide........

This is great timing. I'll have to save this for my files. As a missionary we'd say that if the BoM is true then the church is true and therefore JS was a True prophet of God. But, based on the admittance of these essays the church is not true with a capital T and has an untruthful reputation, both past and present. (present because they still aren't being truthful in their details.)

That's Jesus' younger sister. She steps in when fear tactics, shame and guilt trips don't do the job. and you can always lean on her when their older sister Faith isn't around.

>>>It seems to me that a significant possibility exists that this church may emerge from this embarrassment changed but back on track to more consistency and growth than seen before they were forced to repentance. They may actual begin selling a religion people may be willing to buy (but NOT at the current price, 10%). I know we are all wanting to see the church just go away, but it is

very interesting. Have they ever been honest about ANYTHING? That makes sense because William Law said that these things weren't known to a lot of the members; which is what he planned on exposing. As a result it's impossible to tell what dates are correct. Could this section revelation have been coined as late as 1876? Could it have been written by the prophet of the 1876 era? Is th

I was re-reading this section and something noteworthy popped out at me. Jesus had been giving the green light for polygamy aka Mormon code name “the Law” or “sealing” or “the new and everlasting covenant” when he got to vs 40. Vs 40 says “Ask what ye will, and it shall be given unto you according to my word.” The section doesn’t say that JS asked about marryi

The evil look in his eyes could be his natural and normal look. He is engrossed in reading the notes on his lap, so you may be right; he may be completely invested.

yeah, when they say that they teach the restored truth and the spirit testifies it's too sad. How can they be teaching the truth when they don't even know JS had wives who were married. How can the spirit testify of truth when the missionaries aren't teaching the truth. In fact the spirit is testifying that a lie is true. That's not a very Holy Spirit.

good one! Call home the missionaries. If they're not into works, works, works why the focus on callings, callings, callings. Just see what happens if you refuse a calling for 2 yrs straight. Salvation by Grace? Then why is there a long list of things one has to do for a Temple recommend; which you must attend if you want to go to the celestial kingdom.

Thank thee for our living prophet president Thomas S Monson." <<Erying puts his head back and does a pah! kinda thing like a snort and chuckle. >> We pray that thou would bless him and his counsellors, the quorum of the 12 apostles, and all who (garbl

oh ye of little faith! I'm not sure how long you've been exmo, (I suspect you're not exmo) but I remember 10 yrs ago people would say that their posting and venting won't make a difference to TSCTC. They were wrong! More internet information, posts and forums has allowed more education, which in turn has caused the biggest exodus in LD$ history, which in turn caused the essays omissio

As I read and critique section 132 I realize that I was wrong in my early post about my assumption that polyandry wasn't mentioned in this alleged revelation. It appears to me that it was mentioned. When I read the entire section 132 I could see that the 1st verse was an introduction to justify polygamy. As the earlier posted Tanner video described some of those old testament men t

yep, the missionaries, during their recent visit, tried to tell me that they give milk before meat and don't have time to teach all the details. To which I said, WHAT?? NO!! That's means you're baptizing unethically. Call it what they want, milk, whatever, that's just dishonest plain and simple. Dishonesty in the name of preaching the one true restored church is a pretty big pill
