according to the travel channel show, National Park mysteries and secrets, featuring Glacier National Park, Hitler made a science trade for his life and lived out the rest of his days at that park. My mouth dropped open when I watched it. That's a new one I'd not heard. I live minutes from there.

They did a blurb on Oak Island, something about finding a menorah in a cave. I decided to research a bit because you know those crazy tv stations put out the weirdest stuff. http://thegreatlosttreasure.info/Page17.html scroll half way down: snip >>In 1823 Joseph Smith Jnr claimed to have found golden plates in a stone box buried on a hill named Cumorah after the box’s location

That entire section 132 is an example of massive fear techniques. 9 Will I accept of an offering, saith the Lord, that is not made in my name? 10 Or will I receive at your hands that which I have not appointed? 11 And will I appoint unto you, saith the Lord, except it be by law, even as I and my Father ordained unto you, before the world was? Is Smith essentially a

That's interesting. In this way Bushman doesn't seem to realize that this 'maturity' is still void of real Truth. If it's considered mature to come forward and tell half-truths, semi-deceptions and omit complete chunks of actual truths then they're still in the same mess they were over a hundred years ago. These guys are so completely ensconsed in lies and deception that they think i

I read the ny times article. Bushman said, "The essays held nothing back, said Richard L. Bushman, emeritus professor of history at Columbia University and author of the book “Joseph Smith: Rough Stone Rolling.” Dr. Bushman said of church leaders: “Somewhere along the line they decided they were just going to tell the whole story, not to be defensive, not to try to hide anything.

I recently discussed this with the missionaries at my door. I ranted about it here at 2 in the morning, in a garbled wee-hours-of-the morning kind of way. I finally gave up editing the conversation. We talked about imperfect leaders / prophets (specifically Hinckley and current leaders for continuing the tradition of half-lies and full lies) and why they claim a prophet who reveals God's tr

The essays seem NOM to me. Are the SLC suits using the essays to divert questioning members into NOM's? Will NOM's be the future for mormonism?

I heard that it would be two missionaries. The woman who told me was nutty with hope that her son might be one of them when he grew up.

ichthammol? heck, I was ready to read about the newly discovered ancient American location of Moriancumrs submarine or something equally important. I remain....disappointed. Ichthamol.... ancient salve passed down from Laban, said to be so powerful as to attain properites of mending one's head to one's shoulders; should you find yourself in that type of precarious situation.

"...even if it did come about from Joseph flying by the seat of his pants." I didn't think it was his seat that made him soar to the highest heights. Certainly he always had problems with location accuracy, but his pants was one location that he was always very sure of.

Sorenson was the first weasel I encountered during my open research. I feel terrible calling people weasels, but that's what they are. It's one of the gentler descriptive words, all things considered. He's kind of a smarmy weasel.

After my recent conversation with the missionairies (referring to my midnight rant/post on the situation) I'm convinced the missionaries are trained to offer the essays as plan B. It is an intentional plan set up by the SLC suits to assist the missionaries in the conversion indoctrination process. plan = programming = deception They know they are deceiving people by offering misinform

Oh no, that was Nephi. on second thought, I think Nephi was the first draft after which he settled on moroni. It was Moroni who eventually directed Joseph Smith to the location of the platesin the 1820s.

I really do appreciate you making the comparison between Paul of the new testament and Moroni of the Book of Mormon. The thing about being a mormon apologist is that anything you say will actually expose the myth. Your best attempts to defend it end up exposing and incriminating it deeper.

REcently the missionaries offered me plan B - the essays. I asked them why they're anonymous and who wrote them? They wouldn't tell me why they were anonymous but they did say that the prophet would have given his approval. So there you have it; the missionaries have given their permission to hang those trainwrecks on the prophet and apostles.

Yes, I thought about the modern new testament reference to Jews as well when I read the word Jews in the BoM. It hit me as a new testament reference which would have been more dominant during Smith's era. Christians were branching off and focusing on the new testament perhaps more than the o.t. As Anonow (in his above listed post) explains that Moroni was a prophet and received reve

Good list. Suddently I recall George Carlins revision of the 10 commandments. He condensed them down to a few. Have you seen it? If you'll allow me to have fun with this list: I think we could combine 1 and 2 by saying, The church lies about its history and about its present situation. You are generous by using the word "problematic" and "untrue". The w
